If I said it once, I've said it dozens of times bring back the dip stick so we don"t have to go through conversation. If it ain't broke...don't fix it.

On my 2008 Mini Cooper S it (the dipstick design) was broke and I am glad that MINI fixed the problem. I have read numerous posts over the years about blown engines. I'd bet the dipstick was the cause in many of those cases because it gives false readings.
Many suggest the roll the dipstick on a paper towel method, or to let it sit overnight with the dipstick removed and check it in the morning. Others purchased aftermarket dipsticks. It was way too big of a hassle to get an accurate reading. It's gone and I am happy!
