Catalytic Bypass.....

I thread this today. From U.K. z.
Anyone heard of this?
"JCW models come with a small keyfob that disengages the catalytic converter from the exhaust, making the engine's noise louder and ensuring plenty of pop and fizz elsewhere."

This is the JCW Pro exhaust and will be available as an option at some point, but can be bought separately. At least that is my understanding of it.

The description of it is wrong...the guys on whitroof radio and Motoringfile reviewed it a couple times...
It bypasses the mufler...with the euro emissions rules, bypassing a cat is just as illegal there as it is here...

I think it's included in the JCW tuning module that's available now as a dealer supplied accessory. I think you can install the exhaust yourself, but the dealer has to install the ECU tune. It has a remote than opens up the exhaust sound. I think some forum posters have it already, maybe in England?

Other than an increase in sound would there be any benefit to the JCW? It's my understanding the tune is only for non-JCW's.

I agree. It's weird this was on a JCW not a MCS. I would have imagined that this was a production car.
