Looking for options since I'd like to replace the run flats that are on my GP. there are very few choices in 205/40R18, and looks to be a few more in 215/35R18. Is that the size you guys are running with 18" wheels?

Also, if the GP isn't going to see the snow, should I stick with a high-performance summer tire, or just go with a high-performance all-season tire? I drive the GP throughout the year, just not in the snow. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't drive summer tires in near freezing weather, snow or not.

205/40-18 performance tires at TireRack.com:

Michelin Pilot Super Sport 86W for summer $172
Pilot Sport A/S 3 86Y for all seasons $155
Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 86V $163

 

After a lot of research I went with 215/40-18 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires.
I am very happy with the tires. Better than the Hankook V12 and Toyo T1Rs that I had used in the past.

I like the 215 width instead of 205. 215 fits fine.

Living in a warmer climate area (Central Coast of California) I always go with summer tires.

 

We're running the Hankook EVO V12's on both GP's and two Porsches. Not the best tire but the best for the money. Yes, the 215/40x18's fit fine. I agree...If you're having to drive at or below freezing for extended periods, I wouldn't recommend a high performance Summer tire.

 

Recommending the Michelin AS3.

I had Michelin PSS on my GP1, but they were useless in winter, so it had a second wheel with all-season tires for the colder months.

Currently have Michelin AS3 on a GP2 (Y rated version) and they have been fine so far with the colder temps. The AS3 deliver very similar driving and handling characteristics compared to the summer performance PSS. Would still avoid driving with them in snow, however.
