JCW Which inlet pipe to buy
Which inlet pipe to buy
Today the fam and I took a trip to raleigh and I noticed a rough idle on our way. After we were done, I turned on the car and the check engine light came on, and to my surprise the inlet hose had separated at the clamp (bout a 1/4 inch from the end). Here is a pic of the fix I had to do to get us home:

Needless to say, the dealership will be buying me another, which one is best? The OEM JCW, the Forge, Alta, or NM? I think they will be paying 150

If under warranty you'll get what they give you.
I just installed one of the last samco silicone hoses on my R56.
I would NOT recommend the ALTA;made of metal which only conducts heat.
I'm actually going to have some made that will fit the larger turbo inlet.

So talked to the dealership (again, this is NOT a Mini Dealership) and they offered to send me a check for the price of the inlet tube (FJCW cost is 141.86 at Mini of Raleigh). Now, they said they would offer to pay for install by Mini (which in turn mini warrantees the part), but I offered to do it my self for free. Now with that 140, plan on buying an aftermarket. Now, about your comment, yes the Alta inlet is made of medal, but it doesn't mean it conducts heat. From my understanding, aluminum actually dissipates heat very well. Also, most high end, high boost vehicles use aluminum construction (partially because Silicone has been seen buckling under extreme pressure). I love the look of the Alta, but it may be over engineered for our little turbo
