JCW Upgrade R56 Cooper S Clutch to JCW Clutch?
Upgrade R56 Cooper S Clutch to JCW Clutch?
Hello Everyone,
I have been upgrading the parts on my 2007 Cooper S with JCW parts as they wear out or break. I have upgraded to the JCW turbo, turbo inlet pipe, and exhaust manifold so far with excellent results Now, I need to replace my clutch.
So, I have some questions:
1. Is this a straightforward parts swap?
2. I think I heard that there is a different flywheel as well for the JCW clutch. Is this true?
3. I imagine with 124,000 miles on my car I should consider upgrading the flywheel as well, even if I stick with the regular Cooper part. Does that make sense?
4. Should I/would I need to upgrade the pressure plate (I don't really know what that is) when upgrading to either clutch part?
5. Lastly, should I bother to upgrade to the JCW clutch parts at all? I am leaning towards doing so mostly because the price differences I am guessing will be a few hundred bucks or so with perhaps slightly better performance, not that I know what enhanced clutch performance would really mean.
Thanks!

The newer R56 Cooper S clutches shares the same Part # as the newer JCW now. The clutch kit is must softer feel and most people like it. The older original clutch has a much harder feeling in the pedal and harder to push to the floor.

You can use the Cooper S flywheel. You will need a new one as you reelly cant resurface the old one/

Options 2 go to a Clutch master Stage one Dual mass to single mass conversion. Then you have it all. Its in the link

Thanks
