WARNING - JCW Airbox Faulty Parts

Two things - first, I had been using a foam replacement filter in my JCW airbox for the past few years, and when I went to clean it the last time, it was TOAST. The foam material had disintegrated and the whole thing fell apart in my fingers. I put on the Mini Madness filter to fix THAT problem.

Anyway, in doing so I also noticed the JCW Airbox flap was not opening, which led me to track down a failed fitting to the diaphram. It simply split due to being stressed for the last 8 years at an angle, where they should have used an angled soft fitting. I found the perfect $.50 replacement at Home Depot, some drip line. You can see the final fix in today's vid, the other problems were covered over the last week.

One word - flapectomy. Ditch that useless flap and all it's electronic and pneumatic parts. Save some weight (ok, a couple ounces), and hear that awesome whine all the time!

Nope, I'm not sacrificing low end torque and I like quiet.

Disintegrated ? What filter cleaning kit are you using, I ran one for 3 years in a JCW box.

Interesting

Which foam replacement did you use???

I have been using the ITG foam replacement in my JCW airbox for the past six plus years. I just cleaned the filter yesterday with the UNI foam air filter service kit which does a fantastic job. The foam is in great shape with no signs of wear or aging.

I have no idea what brand it was, it had been on there since 2005. Yeah it was toast - you can see it in one of the vids when I open it up to clean it...gone.
