I don't think the GP is about power so much as handling.

WOW can't believe a dealer would loan the car out. That is cool. Also everyone else needs to keep in mind this is why you NEVER buy a demo car.

Haha, so true. I know my dealer puts demo cars to very good use with customer driving events, so yes, never buy a dealer demo car. Honestly I am not sure they have always been strictly demo cars at these events. But damn are they fun events and involvement like that will keep me coming back.

What handling differences are there that actually make a difference? I know it comes with coil overs but how much "better" are they than a JCW with the OEM JCW Sport suspension? What about the underbody panels and other differences? Are those really making a noticable increase in performance? My guess is the biggest improvement over a Factory JCW is weight reduction?

Or is the GP more about exclusivity? Which I totally understand and fully support. Nothing wrong with having the best most desired thing on the block...

Is the MINI an economy car in Dubai?

That's awesome, I've had a few overnight test drives in used cars, but a GP for two days is something else. Have fun!

Hello All
WMW you are so right ,i will never buy this car after having 2000 km of "test Drive "
Handling i didn't feel much difference than my JCW with sport suupension .I drove on the same road at the same speed (152 Mph !!! ) The tyres on the GP was good year ,this is not what i was waiting for. a bit more noisy but no rear seat can make a big difference in isolation .Will try to upload more pics tonight.

Wow, I'll be back in Dubai in 4 days. Wonder if I could test drive it for a couple of hours? For some reason, MINIs don't seem to be very popular in the UAE. I see more MINIs in the Texas Hill Country than Dubai.

On another note, you are very brave to have a black car in Dubai! I went with Pepper White for my JCW here in Texas due to the heat and Dubai heat (and humidity) makes Texas heat look like a tropical paradise! Plus all that dust in Dubai means keeping a black car clean looking almost a daily chore.

Lol. It's only one step better than buying a rental fleet car--remind me to tell you about Grand Am tire reps and rental cars next time I see you...

Understandable. I really think MINI should have given it at least a 25-50hp boost over the factory JCW. They were more focused on the suspension and aerodynamics so that it's faster on the track.
