Springs and FSDs

Hi Group,

I am torn, I just bought a set of Koni FSDs and I have a set of JCW springs sitting in a box. Do I use the FSDs and JCW springs, or stock sport springs and FSDs? I have read about FSDs and lowering springs but I also read around that poeple have them with JCW springs with no issues.

My goal is to take some of the hard bounce out of the suspension. I am OK with it being tight. I would just like the feel of a little more control. My previous car was a 93 M5 that I put HR springs and Bilstein sports and I was for the most part OK with that setup. Setup is going on an 06 factory JCW.

I am sure this group has an opinion on this

Thanks in advance

I use sport springs and FSDs and like them. I have no idea how the JCW compare, but my guess it they are both "stock" so OK for the shocks.
My ride is still very firm, but never bottoms out or bangs (wifes car is a nightmare with stock runflats) Solid in high speed sweepers and compliant around town.
Either way I think you are OK though.

JCW springs are supposed to be 10mm shorter than the sport springs and the actucal shocks are shortened as well.

It seems like a longer shock like the FSD with shorter springs would cause bottoming more often.

I also talked to the techs at Koni prior to ordering the JCW suspension option when I purchased the car to see if lowering springs could be used. They were really against that idea back in 2006- Don't know if anything has changed...

I ended up doing the Konis on with the JCW springs. I checked the drop after install and it seemed to be about an 1/8" and now that it has settled a bit more it is about 1/4".

The car does ride better and I do not feel everything on the road now but it does stick well in the corners. So far so good. I am sure if they fail early I will complain and forget that I asked the question

I live in the CA BayArea and the roads are not that bad. I guess time will tell on the impact if any from the JCW springs.

By the way Bahwton, saw the 225whp, nice. I would like to get to to around 220 whp someday.

Been using this setup for over 30k with no issues. No leaking or anything else from the shocks. Never have had any issues with bottoming out.
