I found a cooper for sale that I am totally interested in, but the mini dealer in Scottsdale told me they couldnt see that it was installed by a dealer in the history. The dealer is selling it for just under $20k, 38k miles, and its a 2008. Now, from the pics I found, the JCW options installed are the brake kit, rims, spoiler, strut tower brace, and possibly the suspension and tuning kit. the motor does have the JCW badge so thats why I assume the tuning kit is installed, but it does have an aftermarket CAI.
So back to my question, does it seem odd that this mini is selling for so little? is there anyone on the board that works for BMW or Mini that can get a report of the history for me? Carfax shows as clean. Im going to call the mini dealers that are in the history to see if i can find any details. the biggest thing for me is that the Scottsdale mini dealer said that if I cant prove the JCW stuff was installed by mini dealer, it wont be under warranty, and he said it wasnt installed by the factory..

Any help is appreciated! In any case, I'm getting a mini again.. after i had to sell my 2006, it just hasnt been the same..

I actually was able to track down the mini dealer it was bought at. great price for the car. i tested out an 09 S and enjoyed it a bit more than an 06 S I tested. so i think im going for this 08 JCW. its right up my alley..

 

It's not an original car, that could be why it's selling for less. Personally, I want a 100% original car when I'm buying a car, and I don't even think I'd consider buying it at any price - that's just me though. For example, I got a GREAT deal on my car (I'd say $1500 off) and it had unoriginal wheels on it when I received it. I wasn't having that, because they were 18" and in my opinion, too big. I found a set of good used R85 S-Lites and I put some Continental DWS Extreme Compacts on and now it's back to original.

Run a carfax on it, if it's clean, and you don't mind the modifications or you want them, then go for it!

 

I submitted my offer about a few hours late. i should have done it the night before.. someone swooped in and bought it before me.

Oh well, on to find the next one. Overall though, I thought it was a great deal on it. Ultimately it had almost everything I wanted on it for autocross.
