Shipping that from the UK is going to be pretty spendy....

 

I just priced it out with shipping. To my location (Northeastern USA) it's £1,322.83 which equals out to $2079.35 including shipping and VAT. So, about $400 more, but that's with everything already painted. I'd be willing to bet that any paint job for the whole kit would be more than $400. At least around here it would be. Plus it wouldn't be factory paint.

 

Not to mention the VAT (value added tax)....another sizable charge, but shipping an painted body part....internationally nonless, and getting it unscratched...buy a lottery ticket!!

 

UK vendors that ship to the US do not charge us the VAT tax, it only applies to residents and/or products bought in person there. They should take it off without asking, but you may have to remind them. As far as shipping, if the parts are boxed good to begin with, it shouldn't be a problem to get them unscathed.

 

no VAT charges from MINI genuine parts. I placed an order with them for the JCW v2 kit pre-painted in horizon blue since none of the dealers could get it for me the in US. Local paint shops were quoting me atleast 1k for paint, so 2100 or so shipped sounded pretty good to me. They are quoting 4-6 weeks wait since its special ordered thru MINI directly and shipped via DHL Express, so I should be getting it in the next 2-4 weeks.

Buy it from your local dealer...ask them for 20% off, you'll get it! And it's already painted for less money.

 

just received the kit from MINIgenuineparts.co.uk. From order till delivered was a little over 4 weeks, shipping was delayed because of the crazy snowstorms everywhere, or I would have received it by Xmas Eve! Everything was well wrapped and paint matched perfectly. Total was a little over $2100 shipped (should be cheaper now due to lower exchange rate) for the Version II kit with air duct kit included.

Like I mentioned before, I called all the 'good' places to buy the JCW kit in the USA pre-painted, no one would offer it to me in horizon blue, and they were the only ones. My local dealer is offering 15% off and the unpainted kit still comes out to over $1525 (+tax) without the air duct kit and v2 upgrades.

Overall, the experience was excellent especially communication with their staff.

When the next person starts a thread "how much did you pay for your JCW aero kit" or "can you get the JCW aero kit painted from the factory" and someone references this thread then they will see this dude has a JCW aero kit painted for for $1700 and change then they will know why... its old inventory.
