Factory installed Aero Kit vs Aero Kit Upgrade later.

Hi everyone.
I have been speaking to many sales advisors from Mini lately.. and they all advise me to build a mini with aero kit because it will cost me less to do it that way.

Is it true? can you not shop around a get a better or similar deal on Aero kit after the purchase?

My hearts are pretty dead on installing Aero Kit on my very first mini, however, I also don't mind driving with the stock until I get sick of it if the cost would be about the same.

-------------------------------
btw, I test drove pre-owned 2009 JCW today with the aero Kit already installed... and that Mini looked REALLY GOOD and ALMOST convinced me to take her home tonight. =) (in fact, I am still contemplating between new 2011 MCS vs 2009 preowned JCW with Aero Kit installed).
Thanks.

There are two styles of aero kit -- factory and JCW -- that look very different from each other.

The JCW aero kit isn't directly available from the factory. You can have it installed by the dealer, or at the processing center at the port when it arrives.

For 2011, the factory aero kit is only available in the non-S base model. The factory aero kit has been very unpopular and MINI is trying to unload them because they are overstocked. It's actually a good price, if you were going to order a non-S Cooper and don't mind the factory kit's styling (many think it is unattractive).

Good info to know. I know my dealer has a factory non-S with the kit and it looks weird, plus its a gold color so that doesn't exactly spark my interest.

If you are buying a NEW MINI, insist from your dealer to give you a MINIMUM of 20% off of all accessories, yes, the JCW aero is an accessory. This is very much standard in the MINI world. It will be hard to get much more than 20 off even at morristown mini.

So, buy the kit with the new car @ 20% off and tell the dealer NOT to install it. Install it yourself, it's simple! It's what I did and saved 600+ dollars they wanted for installing it.

wouldn't you need all the tools though?
If you order(with the discount for JCW aero Kit) from the dealer, does it come painted?
How long did it take you to install it yourself?
