i was wondering when the kit will be available for 2011 cooper s models

 

I believe I read that MINI wasn't planning on offering it. Since that would make the S with JCW Tuning Kit almost exactly the same as the Factory JCW.

Does anyone know if the Tuning/Sound kit is available for install in the US yet? Dealer tells me it's waiting on a certification???? That does not make sense to me since the kit has been around in its basics for years, unless it has something to do with the mods made to the N18 engine.

 

My understanding, compiled from Motoringfile and my dealer's parts guy, is that there will be a JCW Engine Tuning Kit for the 2011 MCS. It is not yet available; the revised engine on the 2011 S models has a different air filter box and PCV system, along with different ECU. The JCW kit will have to be updated to work with those pieces, and has to meet EPA/CARB certification before MINI can sell/install it. Since the decision to offer the kit for the 2011 cars came pretty late, I'm guessing that they haven't finished doing all that stuff yet. But I want one.

 

Yeh, I am just getting impatient. I really want one but probably better off not having it now in the snow since I'm just getting used to the mighty MINI base S. It does have some go power!

 

As far as I know its already out. I can order it from dealership now.

 

I've heard both stories it's out and it's not. I am held captive by my dealership on this -- and they seem rather "dim". If you can really order it let me know which dealership to call and maybe I can put a boot under my folks here, or order it myself and bring it to them.

 

My dealer said it was available and told me they could put it on a 2011 if I bought one last week.

 

My dealer told me that the tuning kit will be available in Germany at the end of this month
I guess this is when we can start ordering it .

 

Well I'm still confused, but then again that's not hard to do. Are we all talking MCSa? Available and installed are just a little different. I've also heard that it's available but needs to be EPA certified, also heard one was installed in CA. Like I said -- confused.

 

two reps at my dealer flat out told me Friday that BMW/MINI has decided to drop all dealer-installed JCW Tune Kits for 2011's and beyond. I asked about this when demo'ing a Countryman All4 S (not impressed btw ). My service manager also confirmed this.

but yes you can still get them for 2010s.

 

I was talking with the parts guy at my dealer yesterday, and he said the JCW Engine Kit for 2011 cars is still "In Development"

 

if you go to miniusa and do a build out, its now on the jcw accessories page. It wasn't a month ago.

 

That accessory was there when I ordered my MINI in September, and was there when I got her around Thanksgiving. I think it's coming but when is the issue, and given all the uncertainty, this MAY be the last year -- which is why I want it so bad. Again, I've heard that there are kits in the US but they are awaiting EPA or some certification.

 

Upon further scrutiny, the part number being offered online are different than the ones the MotoringFile showed.

 

It would be interesting to know what part number they have. I believe the part number we're looking for is 11 12 2 209 094 for the N18 engine.

 

They have updated the info on motoringfile for the tuning kit. It looks like it will be out soon.
