new jcw aero kit 2011 differences
i had my kit installed last week ... i faced 2 problems :
1) i had to reorder the rear fog lights cose now you have to order the new foglight 2011 that comes with one reverse light and one fog light (left color is clear and right is red)
2)the air dukt for the brakes that comes in the aero kit does not fit properly on the mini cooper s 2011 (different holes and and different screws) since the new bumper of the new mini cooper s 2011 comes with air dukt for the breaks.
i guess the aero kit for 2011 comes with different tubes that channel the air to the breaks.
to avoid the problem i faced, guys makes sure you order the new aero kit 2011.
good luck
.
ps: i'm still waiting for my dealer to solve the air dukt problems , i guess he has to reorder the 2011 one

We just got our 2011 MCS woth the Aero kit. It has the red fog on the left side and the reverse light (Clear) on the right. We didn't know the fog wasn't in the middle like it showed on the site.
My question :
1. Can a left side reverse light be added.
2. I was thinking of having LED's installed in the red part of the reverse lights that would run off the fog switch. This way you'd have 2 reverse and 2 fogs. Is this doable?
Here's a close up of the rear lights.

The one on the passenger side (red and clear) is the reverse/backup light. It's no longer in the brake/signal light assembly. The rear fog light (solid red) is on the driver side.
It's a Eurospec that BMW changed to for the Mini. Or at least thats what I've been told by the dealership. The red light will come on when we turn the rear fog on in the car.
My questions are, can I order another reverse light for the left rear (and where can I find the part number) and wire it to the existing light, then add LED's to the red part of the housing and wire them to the rear fog.

For the LEDs, you'll have to examine the housing and decide the feasibility of drilling holes in the back and inserting LEDs. It looks like a small space to install enough LEDs for brightness. If I owned a 2011, I would attempt it because I enjoy doing that sort of thing, but it would definitely involve some custom handiwork and improvisation.
You can order a reverse light from the UK, where because of right hand drive it would be on the opposite side from the US. If you contact newministuff.com (or other UK vendor), they should be able to look up the number and special order it for you.

Thanks, I'll check the site out to see if I can find one. Much Appreciated.
here's my rear aero....
hope it helps.

By popping do you mean the bulb or thefog light indicator light just being on when you start the car?
If it's the green light its your front lights. The yellow one is the back, which should not be on if you don't have a rear fog.
Do you have an empty spot on the 5th switch spot at the bottom of your center console/dash. There should be 4, an empty spot and then the last switch. If there is a 5th it's for the rear fog switch and you got a bonus part.
The wiring for both fog and non fog are built in. Its the hardware thats not there. (Switch and light)
I believe you can program the front fogs to either be on when starting or maunualy turn them on. I will check my manual.

It's the yellow one. I have the switch since I have the fog light before I change to JCW areo kit. My dealer said they are waiting for the new code to program the car, that's why I'm wondering if everybody else have the same issue or not.
Your dealer is wrong and clueless. There is an additional kit that must be purchased/installed for proper fitment/wiring for the reverse lights on the 2011's. This has been available for quite some time and it will clear up the problem that you never should have had if not for their incompetence. You need to educate them and demand that they order and install this kit for you .
i bought the car with the aero kit factory installed so no issues here.

Hi All
Sorry to dig up this thread but I am having an issue here regarding the Cooper S LCI Aerokit and its lights.
Two issues actually.
1 Issue
I have the kit installed and ready but it is with two reverse lights like this but no FOG LIGHTS and Warning Error on both left and right Fog Lights on the On-Board Computer.

I have the new wiring loom but for now i have only connected the reverse lights and not the Fog Lights.
I had heard that some re-coding is needed but I think here in Portugal there isn't any coding information about this.
Can anyone provide me with the instalation instructions regarding the connections to be made on this lights please?
2nd Issue
As the new Cooper S LCI models have already a pre installed Brake Air Duct, when installing the Aerokit I had to use the existing holes on the wheel Arch and the Brake Duct of the Aerokit but it was not possible to attahced correctly the ducts because of the difference of the size of the hole. This makes a bit of a ratle at a certain speed because the duct is not completly fixed.
Was there anything to be done so the ducts can be well attached?
Sorry for the huge testimony
Cheers

The fog light is not seeing a load on the sytem so it thinks a bulb is out. Thats why your getting error. Did you swap out a fog for a back up? if so is the back up coming up with any errors? I plan to change my fog out and then interegrate led fogs into the reverse housing.

I have installed both clear lamps on the bumper meaning two reverse lights.
Reverse lights are working properly without any fault but i have two errors for the right and left fog light.
After installing the reverse ligths no more room for fog lights.
The aerokit came with two reverse lights for the bumper but no solution for the fog lights
from what i learned from the dealer, my mini was supposedly the very first in the US to have an aero kit factory installed....(09/10 prod date)
so i would assume that whatever harness or modified wiring they have used should be readily available already, as they are port installing aero kits already for the latter JCW's with no issues whatsoever.
question is does anyone have a 2011 jcw with the aero kit and the foglights factory or port installed, with no issues?

Problem's the same here.
Both reverse lights working and no faults on the on-board computer.
Mini's popping up fog light warning for both rear left and right fog light.
Mini is a Cooper S LCI with Aerokit.
I have a 2011. Ordered it with the fog light. It replaces drivers side back up light with a fog light which is a solid red lens. They run on a seprate circuit. Minimania sells a swap kit to change out 1 reverse drivers light to a fog light which should fix your error.

I Have this info:
Further to the ASD newsletter published on 30 August (MINI-10-MINI-13755)
providing details of the parts required for fitting the John Cooper Works
aerodynamics package to R5x LCI models (vehicles from 08/10), we have
received a few dealer enquiries regarding the fitment of the rear lights.
Please be advised the upgrade kits required contain a new reverse light. The
aerokits for One/D and CooperiD models contain a rear fog light, however
the Cooper 5 aerokits don't as this was already standard on pre-LCI models.
This is why a rear fog light needs to be ordered in addition to the upgrade kit
for Cooper 5 models only.
Your technicians will notice that there is an additional wiring loom in the
upgrade kit and that one wire from the original plug is not used. Ordinarily
this would cause a warning light to appear, however if you follow the
installation instructions and re-code the car, the software will be updated and
the warning removed.

I can't find it there...
I was wondering about new parts added to JCW Aero kit:
Front bumper support & Front bumper mount (ISTA-Nr. 51 11 050)
Rear Bumper support (ISTA-Nr. 51 12 050)
These are listed and included (as separate order) for cars build after 08/10 in MINI OEM install guide. Just the front additional part costs $258 (at Outmotoring.com).
So I guess, for all 2011- cars cost of the JCW Aero kit will be more $$?
Anybody tried to install front bumper DIY on 2011 Cooper S?
