High speed wiper problem

Posted this in the GP group a while ago, but reposting here to seek a larger audience of electrical troubleshooters.

What would cause the wipers to stop working in high speed mode? I realize they only go to high speed if the car is moving. When I click the lever to high speed mode the wipers freeze in place wherever they are. They work fine in intermittent and low speed, no hesitation or anything. The on-demand wipe (pushing down on the stalk) works- but only until the lever is released, and only in low speed mode. (If the car is parked, holding down the stalk does make the wipers move in low speed mode.) I believe it is supposed to function in high speed mode when it is held down while moving. Worst of all, the problem is intermittent. Most times, high speed does not work, but it very occasionally does work.

I have replaced both wiper relays in the fuse box under the hood, but the problem remains the same. Wiper stalk? BC1? Some kind of grounding problem? How can I troubleshoot this?

Maybe the motor for the wiper has a short in it, that is only shorting due to the windings of the wires when it is activated on the high-speed mode?!
Just a guess, but if the relay is good, and the switches+grounds are good, not much more to look at.

Sounds like it could even be the connector to the motor. Sometimes electrical connects can be fine under a light load and then fail when a load (deman) increases. Maybe it just needs some brass brushing to clean it up ?

Do you have a meter to check the power to the connector as well.
