JCW aero kit

JCW aero kit painted the color of your mini, not minis archs, 1500+250 shipping, morristown mini.. I called yesterday

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5277 (aero kit 1 (link is for unpainted))

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...catalogid=5277 (aero kit 2 w/ brake ducts ect... (again unpainted))

this seems like a great deal to me, and its painted. infact there prices are the best i've found on everything JCW. tune kit, shift light, strut, all better by WAAAAAY far then my local mini dealer (those crooks). wish i would have found this befor a OVER SPENT on my JCW mods... maybe i could get a refund for a price match! (ya right LIKE THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN)

First kit that you link to is the old aero kit, aero kit I. It doesn't come with the updated splitters and brake duct kit. It comes unpainted.

Second kit that you link too is the Aero kit II with surfaces for painting. Meaning the arches and sills are smooth so you can paint it.It does NOT come painted. I have been through this with them (Will in parts and Fred in service) a few times. Both on the phone and via email

I live about 1 hour away from Morristown MINI. I purchased quite a few JCW items from them over the past year. They have the best prices. Period.

I bought the JCW suspension from them and had it installed in January of 2009. They do good work there.

However, They could never get me a straight answer about the aero kits. They do not do many of them. They are a small volume dealership and that is why they discount all the MINI parts. This helps with sales.

I wound up getting the work done at Prestige MINI in Mahwah, NJ. Which is 15 minutes from my house because Morrsitown wanted $600 more. They quoted me $3975 plus tax for the same job.

Now the saga continues as the paint job done on my aero kit is not very good. At least not on the front bumper. I have put on about 700 miles since I picked it up. I have many chips on the front bumper that should not be there. I am bringing the car back into them on Monday and will be asking them to repaint the front bumper. They better go nuts on the body shop that they contract their work out to.

ya i know, the price from the link is differnt from the price i posted in the thread, your right. the reason why mine is higher on the thread, then the link i posted from there web site, is because that was the price they quoted me with the kit painted & shipped. aero kit 1

personally i dont really like the arches painted and to be honest, if the 'sills' is that extra piece that extends past the bumper i dont care for that either. it has no purpose and just looks like a piece thats gonna scrape when i enter a steeper then normal driveway or something...but your right, the link to there website says unpained..i dont think i would use the brake ducts either, i dont track my car at all...

now that really sucks to hear... i wonder how the prep work must have been maybe? but having it shipped painted would save me so much time and effort i would hate to go through the same issue...

The only issue with having them ship you a painted part is the color matching. Will the paint they put on the parts match the paint on your car? And they do not have a paint shop or body shop there. They sub out the work.

Anyway you do this its going to cost you thousands of dollars.

Another thing to keep in mind. I also got the rear JCW CF diffuser installed. So the price that I mentioned was not just for the aero kit with paint and install labor.

As for the new splitter and brake duct kit, they are very cool looking and only $200 more. Not hard to justify spending a few hundred more.

Update

Went back to Prestige this morning and they agreed to repaint the front bumper. I am bringing it in next Monday. Hopefully their paint shop sub- contractor does a better job this time.
