What makes it a "True JCW''?

Here is a quick summary for 1st-generation (2002-2006) hardtop MINIs, not including convertible:
2002-2005 Cooper S - JCW tuning kits, JCW air intakes, and JCW brakes --> available as separate accessories installed by dealer ONLY
2006 Cooper S - JCW package was a $6,300 factory option
The 2006 JCW package HAD to be ordered with one of 2 other packages: Checkmate (which my car has) or Sport both of which include 17" wheels to clear the larger brakes. The Checkmate Package included everything from Sport Package plus more stuff.
The 2006 JCW package included 208hp engine tuning kit, JCW exhaust, JCW air intake, JCW engine software, JCW intercooler cover (this is SILVER w/JCW logo versus standard Cooper S that has BLACK cover with S logo), JCW front brakes with red calipers (rears are NOT red) and JCW logo, more aggressive brake pads front and rear, 17" wheels, limited slip diff (LSD), JCW badging front and rear, and JCW certificate of authenticity.
All JCWs give you a certificate of authenticity --> see pic below. See my car for sale thread pics:

Mine is the Checkmate less the "checks." I asked them not to put the checks on.... The proof is in the pudding though... have the JCW certificate of authenticity! (and the rear brake calipers are now red to match the front)

Where is my 2006 factory installed JWC Software?
I recently complained to the dealer about poor mpg. When the car was returned, it seemed the have lost some cajones. How can I check whether my MCS-JCW is operating on JWC Software or the less robust MCS software?

It was Bob Dance who came up with all of those cars.Bob was the number 1 retailer of high performance chevys in the world.Bob worked out of Indian River Chevrolet ,as a salesman Bob sold on average 160 highperformance chevys a month starting in 1962 and ending in 1971 when he bought a Dodge Dealership.
Bob campaigned many cars under the professor fate name ,had the first street car in the world to run 11s back in 1957, the first 7 inch tire stock eliminator car to run a 11 sec 1/4 mile, the first 8 inch tire stock eliminator car in the 10s and the first corvette to run in the 9s.Bob was the only 3 time winner of the nhra grand nationals.Bob was the only person that could shift a four speed better than ronnie sox of sox and martin fame.
Bob was also a world class golfer who won the chrysler cup pro-am back in the 90s
Bob passed away sept 11 2008.
Rest in peace Bullet we miss you.

Vince drove the Z/28 ragtop car .The car was built for for vince to use in florida when Chevy enginering came down from detroit for winter testing.
Bob also came up with the first chevy muscle truck, the orange grove owners wanted something they could use for work and play so bob would copo c10 trucks with 327/365 hp and 396/375 hp motors just for them.Bob also took care of all of the nasa corvettes during the saturn and apollo space programs.
Bob had 3 special copo cars that gm gave him, one of 2 ZL-1 corvettes, a L88 caprice kingswood estate wagon with a 4 speed and a 65 ss 396 malibu with a/c.
I have the flywheel to the corvette hanging in my office

The only special yenko was a corvair the rest where just decals on a copo car.
Bob only ordered cars 2 ways, stripped without heaters ready for the track or loaded with every option and set up for the street. he sold more zL1 camaros than anyone else.
I kept a few of the cars from bob's dodge store until the peak of the muscle car market. sold my hemi 69 500 charger(car was a trade in for a 71 hemi superbee) a 440 a/c 71 charger r/t a 78 lil red express and a 1978 petty street kit aspen.
Now i have a 100 mile 1982 delorean(from bob's delorean dealership) , 2007 Gt3 rs, 1999 viper gts acr(from Bob's dodge store) , 2009mini jcw and a 2010 hyundai geniesis coupe with track pak(from bob's familys hyundai store).

I find it ironic that a thread about authenticity of JCW cars moved to Carrol Shelby as a point of reference. The appropriate point of comparison would be... oh, I don't know... John Cooper? The man who turned production Austin/Morris Minis into the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S at his own garage? He is the "Carroll Shelby" of the Mini.
It's a shame that MINI makes it so easy to convert a non-JCW car into one at any point in its lifespan. It undermines the cachet of those cars originally prepared that way.
If anyone is concerned about future collectability of their MINI, I expect that for '06 and later cars, the JCW package needs to be on the factory invoice. For the earlier cars, it would make sense that the cars with JCW upgrades installed by the dealer on delivery would be the "most authentic" (as opposed to some car that was upgraded to JCW at 60k miles).

I have an opinion question for you all. Last Thursday my day started out with my cylinder head blowing out. I know about RMW and any number of options, but for a myriad of reasons, the chief of them being the fact that I don't know what caused it, I opted to go with a JCW head for replacement, as it has a warranty. It's also worth noting that due to a substantially smaller amount of labor, the JCW head and ECU remap came out to be about $20 more than a new R53 head. Anyway, with the JCW cylinder head, and plans to add the airbox, and if the dealer can acquire one (and they seem to think they can) a JCW 11% reduction pulley, would it be a crime against the gods to add a JCW emblem to the car? Not claiming it's something it's not, but acknowledging the addition of said parts?

The factory JCW package was not available until the 2006 model year. It would have had to be dealer installed on a 2004 model. You should have the Works cold air box, Works head, a reduced size pulley on the supercharger, 380cc injectors, JCW plugs, Works catback exhaust, and a Works tune. If your lucky you have the JCW brakes, and JCW suspension.
