JCW Recaro seats

Has anyone actually installed these on a US R56? If so could you tell me if there were any major trade-offs?Also, where did you procure them from?I'm thinking about doing them, and justifying the cost by the fact that I originally purchased the car with just cloth and therefore haven't spent any money upgrading the interior. So let's hear it... has anyone done this?

The only major trade off besides the recaros costing you $$$$ is the loss of side airbags.

The seats have the same airbags. Why do you think that you'd have to give them up? Are side-airbags set to the weight sensor? And if so, could the weight sensor just be set to always on as I don't plan on ever having a child in my Mini front seat?

So, I have been looking into this for over a year. There was one guy I was talking to that said he had them on the way. But then I spoke with his "connection" in the UK and he told me they wouldn't sell me the seats because I have a US spec car and they aren't made for the US Spec. I need to find someone to get these for me. I bought cloth too, and that is my excuse also. From what I have read and can tell we would have to remove the weight sensor in our stock seats and put them on the new seats to have them work. You can roll them up and zip tie them to the bottom of the seat and then that would make all of the connections legit. I have thought about just getting the Recaros without the airbag, but according to ALTA you can't just bypass the airbag sensor like on the 1st gen's. Wow I talked too long!!
