the pistons on the Bremos are not in the middle of the pad, they are on the outter edge of the pad, they wear very uneven, when you look at the pad with the wheel on, it can look like you have 3/8-1/2" of pad left, when there is really nothing left. When the pads get hot they will warp and bend leaving embossed piston dents that will wear thru very fast. then the pistons won't go back in after extending so far, I had to pull the calipers off to remove the pads. Dealership did not want to replace them, without charging me. design flaw! Wilwoods had a 11.9" rotor setup with SS pistons, which are designed for the pistons to be in the middle of the brakepad, so the pressure is more even on the pad. One of the features I liked a lot about my JCW was the Bremos up front....but not after taking to the track. street driving they should hold up fine, just not as good as I would have thought (after all they are Bremos?) but if I was going to spend my money to replace the calipers and rotors, I was going to get something designed better! oh and this last bit of damage was done in one day with new pads I had put on the night before.
