Installing JCW filter element

I just bought the JCW filter element to go inside my JCW cold air intake kit. But, I couldn't figure out how to install it. There are 2 Torx screws in the front, but even after unscrewing those, I didn't see how to open it.

Can anyone help?

I have a 2006 MINI Cooper S. I had the cold air kit installed by an indy MINI repair shop near me, but I was looking to save a little money by installing the filter element myself. According to the online dealer, it installs in about 5 minutes. I'm not familiar with MINIs, but I've owned three cars before my MINI and did a lot of work on them on my own.

Thanks!

I believe you need to do the following steps.

1. Remove intake tube hose clamp from JCW airbox. This clamp is not reusable so use needle nose plyers or another method to remove and discard the clamp. You should replace with a normal hose clamp.
2. Remove the positive battery mount from the side of the airbox.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector towards the rear of the airbox.
4. Remove the small air hose at the corner of the airbox.
5. Remove the 2 , torx bolts holding the front of the airbox in place.

6. Remove the airbox by sliding back slightly and lifting vertically.
7. Flip cover over and remove phillips screw to remove filter.

Take the two tork screws out . taket the inlet hose off the box. lift up the battery terminal and move it to the left. disconnect the small vacume tube under the inlet hose. disconnect the electrial connection at the left corner of the box. then lift thetop at the front of the box about an inch and slide it back. ther are two tabs at the back of the lid that hold the back down . you can feel them give when you slide the top back about two inches. put back in reverse order

Once you remove the torx screws you just need to push back (towards the drivers seat) on the top and then pull up. Wish I'd known you needed one, got a filter I used for about 2 weeks and would sell it for $50.00 shipped.

Thanks everyone

I'm going to print up all your suggestions and tackle it again this weekend!

I'm thinking I should buy one of those MINI manuals by Haynes or the other one.
