Stage 1 Request

Picked up my new MCSa this past Friday. I want to install the Works Stage 1 Package. I'm a little concerned about the loudness and possible droning. I've read alot of threads and am now more confused. Many say its not loud or droning where others say it is. I would like to hear it first hand but dont know anyone with it. If someone here has the package in their R56 and lives on Long Island I would be indebted to you for a ride to hear it. I dont even want to drive just being a passenger is all I would need to do to decide. In return I will let you drive my C6 Corvette with me as pass.( not much I know ) I will meet you anywhere on the Island at your choosing. Thanks.

Check out peoples postings on Youtube - there are heaps of examples of the JCW Stage 1. Just search for "JCW Stage 1 Exhaust" or try "R56 JCW Stage 1" etc.

This will give you a very good idea as to what to expect. From what I've heard first hand it is not loud or obnoxious compared to some aftermarket exhausts out there.

Definitely a conservative choice out of most aftermarket exhausts for the R56.

HONESTLY... here's my .02.

Compared to nearly every other exhaust choice.. the JCW is quieter, it's sporty, but not nearly overbearing.
It DOES change a little bit as it wears in, gets a little deeper.

IMHO, there's not any continuous sound (droning) that's too loud or unfavorable. If you slightly slightly accelerate continuously, well, you'll hear the exhaust in action (like you would with any other) and that might seem like droning.

I think you'll be perfectly fine if you go stage 1 !!!

Before you get excited though with getting the kit, you might want to verify whether the stage 1 jcw kit is available for your MCSa yet. The kit out now fits the 2007's and early 2008's only as there was a change apparently in how the exhaust mounts due to all those people burning their legs on the exhaust tips. I hear the version for the later 2008's would be available by Nov, but haven't heard any verification whether it has definitely come out.

I've done the youtube thing but I gotta hear it first hand. In the 80's I had a 5.0 Mustang with exhaust that drove me batty after a while. Im older now and my tolerance is lower. My Vette has Longtubes and intake and thats just enough sound for me.

Would still like to hear it myself. There are so many differant opinions and individual tastes.

I was told by the parts guy my kit will be built late November/early December. Mine was built in August 2008. I worked my tuning kit into the car deal, but now I have to wait to get the tuning kit installed.

My car was a late June 2008 build and I have had the kit on now for 1.5 months. It will be worth your wait!

I am in CT. I have the stage 1 with a few other goodies. However, it is not an auto. If you want to hear the exhaust, you can come up. You are right to want to hear it before putting down the cash. PM me if you are interested.
