JCW JCW kit for automatics NOW AVAILABLE!!!
Thanks, orangecrush & darmog, for quick responses!
I'm aware of the differences between the Stage I and Stage II kits, but I wanted to make sure that the Stage I tuning kit wasn't discontinued or something. I won't be ordering my new MINI for a few months to come, so hopefully the option will be re-enabled for the MCSa by then.

I'm sure it will be... it seems really popular, I can't imagine them discontinueing the kit.

I went to add the JCW Tuning Kit to a MCSa in the configurator to get an estimate on what the total cost of my MINI would look like, and I can no longer add the tuning kit with an automatic transmission.
Why did they disable it?
It was an option a few weeks back!

Like Mark (orangecrush) said it will probably be back on the configurator again soon.
More JCW BS
I was just informed by my MA that the tuning kit for my 2009 auto is "backordered" due to BMW redesigning mounting points to stay one step ahead of A/M exhaust manufacturers, plus some confusing part number issues for 2009 automatic builds. Plus, the rear sway bar is backordered; the excuse for this one is that the factory was not prepared, parts wise, for the rush on factory JCWs so the rest of us have to suffer while the factory builds take priority.
Check out the thread on the early 2009 Clubman mis-builds because the factory ran outta anthracite headliners....
Oh well no biggie I kind of wanted to drive the car before hand anyway to experience the diff once it is installed. Plus, two less things to take up pre-delivery time. Being a planner, I just hate it when no one can plan....

Hope you get your kit soon....

At first the kit seems expensive but if you price out a CAI, exhaust and ecm retune (and/or piggy back) you're going to spend almost as much as you would just buying the JCW stage I kit.
And then, you have no warranty, perhaps issues, etc, etc....
Congrats, let us know when you get it....

I promise you that you won't regret it. There may be other alternatives out there (though I don't know of any successful ones yet) but for what you get, what you pay for and the piece of mind, it's WELL worth it.

Can anyone tell me about the shift points in the car in full automatic mode during light throttle application? At light throttle, approximately what RPM do the upshifts occur? Currently my MCSa upshifts at around 2200-2400.
Thanks,

So I bought my 2008 Mini Cooper S a few weeks ago and we worked the JCW tuning kit into the deal. They placed the order. I called today to check on it and they are telling me it won't be "built" until the end of November. I told them mine was a 2008 and not a 2009 model, but was told it still won't be ready until then.
Anyone know why?
Anyone know why?
I have to convince the wifey to get one of these. The dealer mentioned it to me about the JCW for the auto, when I was leaving the dealership... I had no idea they came out with it.
Maybe a next year mod.

As a fellow Canuck, (moved from Edmonton) I can tell you that the JCW kit is probably the best bang for the buck.
I'm sure there are (or will be) better performance mods out there but to have piece of mind, (no issues, no CEL's, nothing), warranty and great performance is well worth the money.
Best couple of grand you can spend on the car, IMO.

well, just got done from my first road trip with my 2009 MCSa and all I have to say that even with conservative break-in driving it is a hoot and a half--even w/o the JCW tune kit!!
Good news, the JCW rear sway bar and bushings are in, just waiting for the tune kit.
One question : when y'all are using yr paddles in manual mode, do you favor left over the right? when I first got the car I used the right paddle but it seemed awkward; left one seems more natural, mostly because my L hand is always at 9:00, and my right hand tends to wander: CC, CDs, get a drink, lower/raise windows and moonroof, etc.

PS. BTW, as it breaks in, it definitely gets better.
Anyone order the JCW kit in the last few weeks? My accessories guy said he ordered mine 2+ weeks ago and today told me he had no idea when it will be shipped or arrive as they get no advance notice. What has been the typical wait time?
When was your car built? If it was after June 2008, you might not see it for another 4 weeks because of the change in the production exhaust, they had to modify the exhaust in the kits.
This applies if it is an automatic. I was told my kit won't be built until late November, early December. My car was built in August 2008.

My car was finished on June 27th 2008 and is an automatic. I have had my kit on now for almost a month and a half now. I purchased the kit the first week it was released for the automatics. It is really worth the wait though so hang in there.
