JCW suspension installed!

Nice car, I think I know the guy that sold it to you out of Charlotte. Rumor has it that he's selling Cadillacs now. Can you believe that?

My car has the factory JCW kit, which included the engine mods and the brake kit. Understeer is eliminated mostly, though I think that is more a function of the 19mm rear sway bar set to the hardest setting. I can force it to understeer, but it's it's mostly a very neutral balance and is easy to rotate the rear. Much, much less understeer than the stock setup.

Im getting the JCW suspension fitted in a couple of weeks - does it come with a different sway bar compared with the normal S suspension?
Am going from stock shocks + eibach 30mm springs to JCW full setup - am hoping for a much better ride and hopefully reduced understeer!!!
Have also got JCW upper front strut brace and 18" R95 wheels fitted.

However, if you really want an upgraded sway bar and want to stay OEM, the sway bars are interchangable between the two generations... so you can just order the 2nd Gen JCW sway bar. It's 18.5mm - the part number is 33556782723. I have it installed in my R53 with JCW suspension. It was a nice improvement, but not too aggressive.

jcw suspension
help! i have h-sport springs and rear anti-sway bar, ireland rear control arms and koni fsd shocks. i am wearing out tires every 9-10,000 miles. the wear is in the middle of the tires creating a 'knife edge' which in turn, creates a rough ride and terrible handling. is this a problem with lowering my car? do i need camber plates? and if i were to install the jcw suspension would i have the same problem with tire wear?

Trying to piece this together.............
1. Are you wearing out all tires, just the front, back, etc. ?
2. Excessive wear in the center of the tire would indicate air pressure too high. So, I have to ask what you are running.
3. 'Knife edge' wear pattern. Hmmm, not sure what that looks like, please post some pics.

I found that lowering springs tend to wear the inside edges fastest - i.e. it gives the wheel a bit of negative camber, this is part of the reason Im changing to JCW suspension - better tyre wear than what Im currently experiencing.
Does anyone know exactly HOW the shocks are different from standard suspension??

The JCW suspension has been set up to work correctly with the mini (there may be alternatives which can be made to work better) so there should be no problem with adverse tyre wear with a properly set up suspension kit - your sway bar may make the jcw suspension kit more responsive too...
I would go to a garage which can do full and accurate alignment and suspension geometry check and see what they say...
