JCW "Howard" Gets a better reason shift gears!(JCW Shift Light)
this shift light has not been an easy install for me... anybody have trouble getting the new column piece to snap back in place? Only two of the clips are catching now. I wish MINI would not use plastic snaps so heavily in their cars. I know it's cheaper than screws, but once the car is together it's hard to take stuff apart and get it back the way it was.
Let me know if I can help further! Good luck!
Also, we include those along with specific instructions when you buy the kit directly from us.

Is this device "gear aware", meaning can I set different RPM values for the different gears? ....i.e. based on measured torque to the wheel & torque fall-off above 6000rpm coupled with the transmission's gear spacing, redline for 1st & 2nd, 6350 for 3rd, 6200 for 4th, etc... (I am at a different computer than the one that has CarTest2000 on it, so those numbers are only examples)
Can this device do that?
Thanx

With a semi-nice weekend day in Chicago, I finally decided I would get around to this mod. I got lucky and was able to win new parts for this mod on eBay UK for about $120 shipped. While I like Alta, dropping too much money on a purely aesthetic upgrade was not in the cards for me.
Adam's instruction were a huge help for the process. It took a little over an hour to complete. Honestly the toughest part was removing the old cover. Thanks for the lovely movable plastic tabs BMW! The front two are easy to snap off, the back two, not so much. After much prying and one cut thumb later it was off.
The rest of the instructions were spot on. My only guidance is mounting the module box in a proper place that allows you to securely mount the knee cover. After the third placement and as many wasted zip ties, I finally decided on a space just above the clutch, leaving optimal slack for the wire connecting the module to the LEDs.
I have mine set to the default 6500 RPMs. Again, unless you are new to a stick, this is an entirely aesthetic upgrade, though a neat one.
Thank you for putting this together Adam.

Thanks for asking! We no longer carry the item. Sorry! But other sites, or a local dealer should have it for you!

Adam, can you supply a pic of these wire taps and maybe let us know where we might be able to find them?

NOTE: I did NOT use the supplied taps from the JCW kit. They are crap. I used instead a wire tap and male connector

The Home Depot and Lowe's both have them in the electrical section. You're looking for a wire tap that clamps onto the wire and has a female connector slot on the side. Then you'll insert a male spade connector into the female connector on the tap. That's it. It's long to write out but it's a 4-second job.
