Interior/Exterior Window tint pictures anyone?
Window tint pictures anyone?
I'm thinking of getting the windows of my PW/Black R56 tinted but I'm not sure how dark I want to go. If I could see some pictures of tinted windows on Minis, that would be helpful. If folks have pictures, can they please post?
Nice pics groovedaddy. I'm not sure if thats the right terminology but what "level" of tinting is this? And are the front windows and windshield also tinted? Don't think that is legal in NY at least. Rules Rules!
Not sure about tint level I told the dealership to go as dark as legal (only freebie I got). Looks great and a must have during Texas summers. Tint is on pass. and drivers windows but none on the windshield. Sunroof has a factory tint that I will soon have darkenend.
Just to build on that, most states have a percentage darker-than-clear that is the maximum allowable degree of tinting. If you don't exceed this you cannot be ticketed for too-dark windows (or, it won't hold up in court with proper docuentation and proof that you have what you say you have). Shops that offer tinting services usually know this info and can supply you with the max allowable tint for your locale.

20% rear & sides with 50% front driver & passenger nothing on front. It's illegal here to have any tint at all on the front sides, and I've been through various roadboacks etc but I've never had a single ticket.

Trending Topics
30% on both sides and rear:

Under direct sunlight, the tint takes on some reflective properties from the outside, giving the illusion of being darker than it is.
Today at the Tulip Ralley:

The wife (with unseen kids in the back):

There's also the effect of being darker towards the rear since light is coming through the front windscreen and not the rear. I like it. Cools the car down and gives some privacy without being "look at me" dark.

WOW! Thanks for the loads of replies guys. Gotta love NAM.
I just found out the legal limit here in NY for front windows is 75%. So, I have 2 options:
1. Darker tint in the back (30%-50%) and 75% in the front. It might look a little odd though but will ne dark enough.
2. A 75% tint all around. Won't be as dark but will be consistent.
Any recommendations or thoughts on these 2 options?
Wish I could get what diablito has (see post #8). That looks hot but won't fly here in NY :(

Hmm... I don't know what "percent" my tint is. (i should find that out, huh?) I do know that it is 100% not-legal for any front seat tint in Sunny California. My take: 50, 20, 10%? It's all the same ticket, right? (aah- my mini-truckin' days linger within!)

No cop is going to write a ticket for 35% and up. 35% is enough to block but not too dark.
Some people I know get 5% all around. . . crazy: at night it's like you're blind; and some people I know
get 20% all around which is still pretty dark.
I think 35% all around or 50% all around is the way to go.
Too dark and the look of the car loses credibility.

Here's mine with the Colorado dealer tint. Probably 50% but it feels like my old car that had 35% on the sides
and 15% around the back.
Also, when you go to the tint guy, see if you can get some friends together and have everyone do it at once,
then you can beat the guy up for a 15% or 20% discount while everybody gets tinted.
Good luck!
