Prior to purchase of a radar detector, I was reading an Escort owner's manual on-line. It warned that the use of suction cups could permanently mar the anti-lacerative coating on inside surface of the front window of vehicles that had that. (It specifically referred to Porches as having this coating.)

Anyone know if MINIs have this coating? Has anyone damaged their window by the use of suction cups?

I've been using a suction mount for my GPS on the MINI for almost a year. It's been on and off countlless times and it's a really strong hold. When I remove it and clean the inside glass, there is no trace that it was ever there.
