Also, check the Moss Mini catalog. I just got their 2007 Summer/Fall, and they list the one with grommets for the same price as the regular:

$149.xx!!!

Website does not reflect this price though, so you may need to follow up.
Only reason I haven't jumped on this is because I am going to have a panel custom made from aluminum or steel (should resist flexing) and rhino-lined, also with grommet cut-outs. Might even put a hinged portion in to get some extra storage.

With any luck it should be cheaper, sturdier, more durable, and with more storage than anything else out there

I've got a Schroth coming for Christmas, at least for the driver's side. I'm considering the Braille Battery and Helix13 Battery Box. The only finishing touch would be the Rear seat delete kit. COR BLMY, if there was any doubt, your picture settles it! Man that looks sweet. Now all I need is that roll bar.

Everyone is so resourceful when it comes to covering the rear seat bench. Do any of the kits add more weight than leaving the bottom cushion? I guess you want a flat storage surface, but I did the removal of the seat backs for weight.

I too have a Schroth coming at Christmas. About that Braille battery, which one do we need for the MINI? They sure are expenisve, but a carbon fiboer battery is just too cool. Anyone know the weight of the stock battery? I try not to hijack...

Its my understanding that pretty much all of the pre fabricated kits are an off shoot of the same basic idea and that they will shave about 35lbs. Some of the guys have used ply wood and mdf (medium density fiberboard) to create their own, which will obviously weigh more than ABS plastic. I would guess tho that in most cases this would still weigh less than the back seats.
I've been warned about the Braille battery and hot climates by a fellow NAM member in Arizona, but living in St. Louis will certainly be a different story. I plan to talk to Helix later today, as they have been a very pleasant company to deal with in my experience so far. I'll post what I learn later today. And yes, a CF battery is the shiznit.

If you could do that, I might be one of your first customers...

Not sure if this is of interest to anyone here, but I did a rear seat delete on an R56. It was not designed for competition, so there was probably a net gain of about 20 lbs. for the Dynamat and cabinet. Here is a thread with photos in progress and mostly complete:

The question I have is why would MINI put "Oh ****" handles in the rear of the GP when it doesn't have any seats?

Well no seats means you'd need something to hang onto back there Probably an oversight in rushed design to simply use what was in the parts bin alreadt, holes and all.

Good point. I like the more finished look of the GP rear, though. Say, you didn't happen to remove the rear seatbelts in that last pic, did you?

This is my RSD. Got a used original RSD from a friend, coved it in auto carpet and then made a rear piece that makes for a complete flat floor!
