new altezza style lights

whats up guys,

i was just wondering what your opinions were of these new altezza style lights they are selling on ebay. i like the fact that they have a black housing and a larger clear/white area than the mostly red 05 tails cuz i feel like my stock ones get lost on my red car (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/02-05...98218479QQrdZ1)
i think they would go well wit the rest of my scheme of black red and chrome after i paint the insides of my headlights black as well...i figure that these are relatively cheap and worth a shot. if anyone has already bought these lets see some pics and hear any negatives if there are any!!

The fact they say they will work in 02-05 Minis is a bit suspect since the 05s have the reverse lights in the tails unlike the earlier models which had the seperate reverse light where the 05s/06s put the fog.

I'd suggest checking to be sure you'll be able to use them and still have reverse lights or, if you don't have a rear fog you can prob add the old style light.

Hooking those up to an 05-06 car will make the top light the reverse light, and the middle and bottom lights stay the same.

yeah seriously lol not good...so ur sayin that the top red circle of the aftermarket tail would be my reverse light when i change them? i do have the back up light kit from mymini but 1.) thats not enuff light as a sole back up light esp with 20% tints and 2.) i dont want it to look like im braking and backing up at the same time lol!! i guess ill have to call up that ebay store selling em and see what the deal is...if thats true thats real whack but ill tell them that i dont mind bein a guinea pig if they sell em much cheaper!! lol

You could always have the car beep loudly like a truck when backing up

iv read about people rewiring some of these aftermarket lights simply and easily to configure to the 05-06 tails...is this true? and how feasible is it for someone wit little wiring experience. im thinking u could rewire them so as to make the clear portion the reverse light and one of the red portion a turn signal...

Sure, just cut and splice the leads to do that. All a light needs is a positive and a ground. Let me know how much hassle this turns out to be - I was contemplating trying that myself but got diastracted by some other things before I could do it.
