Cockpit Specialties HB Prototype Chrono Pack Pics

Fellow NAMlanders,

Many of you have seen Cockpit Specialties dial faces, now Randal is working on dial faces for the chrono pack. Over the last week I've been talking with Randal and went over to Motson Graphics (Cockpit Specialties) on Wednesday. He showed me there set up and how they make the faces, very cool stuff. Randal has put lots of effort into making these for our community, and has done a great job at doing it. I'm not getting any kick-backs from Cockpit Specialties, I'm just a fellow NAM member that likes helping out a start up vendor here on NAM.

He gave me a prototype HB set to install. I installed them in about 1.5 hours, but I was taking many pics etc along the way and had no directions to follow. I'll eventully post up the install pics, but that will take a while with all the pics and words needed. I think it should take around 0.5-2 hours for someone to install depending on skill level and perfectionistism:impatient . Anyway, the pictures will speak for themselves!!! Thanks Randal, look forward to helping out more in the future, hopefully for the center guages. Enjoy the Pics Happy Motoring!!!

I do know how to resize pics, but then everyone would ask for larger pics.

People LOVE DETAILS!!!! Especially on something like this.

Later, Joe

Very nice - I'm looking for something a little darker than the stock silver, so a set of these in dark grey would fit the bill perfectly.

Do you know if there are any plans to produce different faces for the Chrono Pack itself?

Randal had a few other colors and I'm sure some in the works. He had dark gray and black prototypes, but I thought these would work best for my application. I'm hoping he'll want to do the Chrono Pack itself, but it is MUCH more complicated because it is 3D and the chrome bezel inside the gauge pack itself. I'll keep "encouraging" him to try though, I'd love to see the center too. I've done some photoshop jobs on the center, and it would look great.

I'd buy a set in the dark grey if it matches the dark grey background of the fuel gauge in the Chrono Pack.

I'm ready to purchase in black as soon as they become available. Black would match the black face of the Nav. I have anthracite interior and I will also paint the trim rings and needle hubs anthracite. Ever since I had the car, I've thought of the glittery silver of the gauges and the trim rings as a glaring mismatch against the anthracite, and frankly a bit of an eyesore.

looks awesome Joe...

Did Randal say anything about possibly doing something for the center section? I know there are several levels there, from what I can see in your pics, but if some of the blue was carried over there, that would be awesome!!!

Anyway, well done, thanks for the pics...I LOVE HUGE pics

Hey everyone. Glad you like the latest. A few quick notes - first, thanks Physics for the great review. As far as doing something with the actual Chrono pak it's unlikely to happen, at least not for a LONG time. It's just too complicated and we're currently trying to produce a British version (a few changes from US version) Euro version (KM only). We'll also be starting versions of the '07's soon. Each one has a fairly long gestation process, mostly a matter of working on the backlighting.

As far as night shots of these, they're not quite ready for public consumption. We need to tweak the backlighting a little bit more before final production. Once they're ready we have color options of: blk, red, blue, brg, yellow, dark grey, checker, UJ, UJ greyscale. Email me with your preference if you want to be notified when they're ready to ship.
