The stock grille can be used but requires mods similar to putting the aero grille on a non aero bumper, as the holes do not match up.

I'm assuming Classic paints them, or has a local shop do it, as opposed to the ones that were available factory painted from MINI? How much do they charge altogether for that?

Did they paint them in the OEM style-meaning adding the black to match the factory arches? If so, how does the black portion look-does it have the same texture as the arch does?

they are actually factory painted and shipped over from the mini factory....they had writing on the outside and it was in German....the texture and black match the arches....

Great news!

Thanks for sharing, I am calling Classics now.

Hopefully they still have the aero front in BRG...

Anyone remember who at the parts department at Classic we should speak to? Also, what's the number? Just call the general number listed on their website?

Those look great!

Were you able to save the metal inserts on the door sills? If so, how did you get them off. Would mind telling how much the painted skirts were before shipping?

For those who are looking for the full aero kit, Downtown MINI in Orlando has them on sale for $1,000 primed.

yes i was able to save the sills...

first step is to heat the the sill up with a hair dryer for about 5-10 minutes on high heat then i used one of those knives that have a breakable blade to slowly drag under neath the sill to cut the double stick tape that is under there...be patient and do a little bit at a time so they don't get bent.

Price was 259 each from classic mini before shipping....

any questions feel free to ask me

I spoke to Steve at Classic, here's the scoop.

They CAN still get the factory prepainted kits for some colors/variations, those for the full kit list out at about $1700 (Minus our discount, not sure where that would put it).

He can also get a factory painted kit (It's different... lol, factory painted means he has the factory paint a boxed primed aerokit, prepainted are kits they already had painted) that runs at about $2000 (Minus our discount). Neither of these options allow you to have the FULL kit painted, you'll still have that black edge around the bottom of the front and rear bumpers.

I opted to have them send me the FULL aero kit, primed. This cost me $1000 even (Plus shipping, which he estimated at around $150 from OH to CA). I also had him send me the wheel well trim pieces (6 in all, 4 front, 2 rear) as I want to paint those, and don't want to deal with the headache of any cleaning products i've used over the past 6 months cracking paint, bubbles, etc. This cost me about $65.

All in all for about $1200 I should have my factory unpainted aero kit with all new wheel well trim shipped. he estimated between $600 and $800 to paint it.

Has anyone in the LA area had their kit painted? Including the wheel wells? If so, how much did this cost?

PRE PAINTED

We have been recieving many requests for prepainted aero kits. I have talked with MINI North America and they have told me that I will not be able to order kits prepainted by Vin# any longer. There are some colors available already painted in stock at the BMW warehouses. We can check availabilty when you call. We will still be able to order the individual pieces of the kits prepainted from the factory so we can make a kit up from the individual pieces, but this is a few more dollors when purchased this way. I am trying to get MINI to offer the painted kits again and I will bring the subject up at the National Aftersales Conference in Las Vegas next month. For now the unpainted kits and prepainted single pieces are available. If you have any questions please call or email.

How did this work out for you? I've been thinking about doing the same thing. The cost of all the stuff seems pretty reasonable. Did you find a good body shop?

Yea, I also used Steve. My only complaint is the time required to paint it. It's STILL not done. And Steve is pretty hard to get ahold of. He's almost always busy when I call, and I've been told now 3 times that it's done, only to call to have it installed and find out it isn't. It's not really his fault, it's the body shop that's taking forever, but I would have preferred knowing that it was going to take 3 and a half weeks before I had had it installed on my car .
