They are working on BRG...so you won't need to worry about a custom one

Yes, it says on the webpage to watch for BRG and Liquid Yellow coming soon.

I would love to have this in black but I have Navigation. I e-mailed them about it and they responded immediately that are working on prototypes and the Nav/Chrono version should be available in 8 weeks!

That is so awesome, I am so glad people are jumping on these. I have waited WAY too long for some to come out. There were some in Europe available 3 years ago, but they never actually produced them...so I was bummed, I was on a wait list for 6 months. :(....then nothing.

Even my wife got excited about them, and she just barely tolerated my car fetish

Glad to hear the test run went well, LOL.

A Japanese tuner site had them for the Mini for like $300, not including shipping from Japan.

My point exactly....these are made in the US by MINI enthusiasts, and they are HALF that price. I never saw the Japanese ones, wonder what their quality was like, and if they did MPH or just KPH?

I was not sure why someone would want to change faceplates, but now I know. They look really cool!

Instructions in there for 2002-2004 and 2005-2006 cars. The earlier version of the MINI has some additional screws in the bottom edge of the center trim panel that you need to remove, and you really should take off the dash (it's only held on with 4 torx screws so it's easy to pull). The '05-'06 does not need to have the dash removed and all of the cabin trim peices are held on with friction clips - easier to remove, but you have to pull all 3 since the center trim panel is held down beneath the driver's and passenger's side peices - see the thread for details and PM me if you have questions.

Also note that there are warnings on Cockpitspeciaities How-to that say to not unplug the speedo, and that my write-up also echoed these warnings, however repacing the face with the speedo off the car is MUCH easier IMHO... From everyone I've talked to (including MINI mechanics), the reprogramming issue should only apply to REPLACEMENT speedo assemblies and not if you simply disconnect and reconnect the same unit. I included the warning just to give fair warning however - if you're really worried about it, then you CAN replace the face with the speedo still on the car - it will just be a bit harder.

i did my install without disconnecting the speedo, did not find it that hard what so ever, entire process, tach and speedo is less than an hour anyway, so not brain surgery.

in addition to imagox's write up, cockpitspecialties has had their write up for installs on their web site, downloadable pdf, for quite some time. both are well done and great resources.

Awesome, I just spotted the announcement. My interior needs some BRG to add a bit of flavor to it.

Here at the shop and I just got done installing the Tach Gauge Face from Cockpit Specialties in Anthracite. The quality of the gauges is great and they light up very well. Will do the Speedo later today or tomorrow and then post pics.

yes, I do think it would be too much blue. The nice thing about it is adding contrast. If yours were blue, I would make them Silver ...or black or anthracite...but not matching blue, too much of a good thing.

Don't know. Just found them on a tuner site, and didn't want to spend $300 to find out what the quality was. Not including international shipping.

I think I'm going to jump on these cockpit specialty ones though, as OutMotoring is taking too long.

wow, wonder why Randal has let all the eBay options go. he has links to vendors that carry them, you can order through the vendors, same price, etc.
