HID headlights possible and how much?

I have a 2002 liquid yellow MINI and I was looking into installing the MINI HID headlights instead of my factory halogens. Is this possible to do and how much would it cost?

I think you maybe be able to directly swap them out, just change the fixture. However, the fixutres themselves are rather pricey. i think they were around $800 to replace them when mine got stolen. The little washer gizmo cost extra too. Your dealer should be able to get you a price on them pretty easily, but it won't be cheap. I think the aftermarket ones were made illigal, because of issues with them not beign properly installed ro allighed, and blindign other drivers, but I'm not sure.

I've swapped mine out. Darn easy, no electrical issues. I have an '02, normal halogens to begin with, now Xenons.

Just be sure to aim them!

eBay

If you don't want to pay full pop for them from the dealer, you can usually find them on eBay. I check about once a week to see what's out there....they usually go for about $300 a piece.

It's not as easy as it sounds, RallyMINI offers good advice from his link and what ever you do don't cheap out and go aftermarket hids as our housings are not designed for hids, the reflection will get you in tons of trouble with other drivers and eventually the cops. A complete stock replacement is the only true answer and I'm sure you realize how much that will cost. You can improve your lighting with a good set of high quality H7 bulbs such as PIAA etc.
