If this has been done sorry. For those that want rear fogs in the US ,and seeing how the lamps are there but not the switch I have an easy way of hooking them up.Rally, the company that makes fog lamps, has a remote control lamp unit.If you look at the "Show your stripes" thread on page 3 the FASTERNU red S is mine. The front spots are remote control. No wires through the firewall. You could do the same on a S for the rear fogs.Just hook to the battery in the back, mount the remote in the rear hole, and connect to terminal 1 on the rear lamp plug ins and your done. The thing that turns them on looks like a remote lock on a GM product. You would not need to hook it on a keychain.I stuck mine under the column.

I could not find the Rally site, but I found a universal light remote switch for $20.

http://www.redlinezone.com/fog_light.htm

I have absolutely no knowledge of this company either good or bad.

The part RDX-F11 has shown up on many websites when I've searched. $20 is the cheapest I have found so far.

See ya,
JS

A more useful idea for those lights is to convert them into BRAKE lights. Very simple to do. May have seen it elsewhere, but bear with me.
From the side comp, in the boot, remove the connecter for the taillights.
I then removed the little white cover and then removed the connecter from #1 and #4 with a very small screwdriver. Push on the top and the connecter comes out.
Using the little screwdriver, I bent back the crimped tabs that hold the wire in place and attached a jumper wire between the two.
Pushed the pins back into their slots, replaced little white cover, replaced connecter to lights, turned key on, had friend step on the brakes whilst I admired the fact that my brake lights just doubled in number.
As long as it took me to type this is as long as it takes.
Can be done simpler with a paperclip, or just stripping the wire outside of the wire harness. your call.

When I was on the Roadtrip and staying with Donna and Mike in Virginia, Mike did the brake-light mod suggested above on Wanda. It's a great safety feature and I am VERY happy with it!

Cheers!

Annother vote for the brake light Mod... I did mine the night I brought home the car.... anyone else notice most MINIs in the US that have been hit have been hit from behind???? Yes I know some are desperate for the rear fogs but unless you live in an area with constant fog the extra 2 brake lights that you have ALL the time is a better saftey idea... an added bonus is my brakes are so bright I can just tap them to scare the **** out of people who follow wayyy too close

This the reason I developed the 'Give Me A Brake Light" kit. It is on the marketplace.

For those that do not know how to work with wiring or do not have the time to get the parts email me about my kit. MINIROLLS@msn.com.

The instructions are easy to follow and the kit goes in pretty quickly and is removable if you want to take them out. And you do not have to disassembly the plug.

I ship USPS Priority mail so after payment is received you will habe the kit in two or three days depending on location.

I did the mini-rolls rear fogs last week. I elected to go with the "kit" instead of paperclips or other "minimalist" approaches. The kit is great. Directions are clear and simple, and overall well worth the nominal charge - at least to me.

Thanks mini-rolls. I've already got many $$$$.$$ into my car. Your kit seems almost free for some piece of mind and extra safety.

I'm trying to figure out where the rear fog lights are. looking at pictures and don't see them. are they in the taillight assembleys? isn't that the backup light at center bottom? if not, then where ARE the backup lights?

rg, the rear fogs are enclosed in your brake lights. they're actually the ones at the top of the light cluster under plastic. Once you get the car, you'll note they don't come on during breaking or with the lights on.

It's an easy mod and will make your car less likely to get punted from the rear.

Don't change that mind of yours.

Yes, the backup light is in the middle of the rear bumper.
