Interior/Exterior Clear Bra Quality/Cost
Clear Bra Quality/Cost
Merry Christmas!
I'll be getting my R56 hopefully in 7 weeks and counting now and one of the first things I want to do is have the Clear Bra put on it and tint the windows.
I've been quoted around $450 for the clearbra w/ installation...just wondering what is a good price to have this done? They advised they will be removing the lights and tucking the plastic so that there are no lines.

That's a fair price - the local installer here that's done both of our MINIs charges $495, and he covers the front bumper, fog lamps, running lights, headlamps, front 18" of the hood, hood scoop, mirror backs, and grille slats.
I've never heard of anyone "tucking" the film behind lights, but if it works for them, and they warranty their work against the film peeling up, then it shouldn't be a problem. Usually, you don't wrap film or pinstriping around an edge, since it's more prone to peel up that way. The film on my headlamps stops about 1/16" from the edge of the lens, but from more than two feet away, you can't see the edge of the film anyway.

What part of the country you're in? I would figure a clear bra install would be out of the question during the colder months. At least up here, it's still gonna be cold in 7 weeks. Are you gonna have it installed indoors or you're in the southern part of the country.
This owner had his film all tucked in behind the headlights and the grill: http://home.comcast.net/~sfconnell/m...arbra/home.htm

I'm in KC...
The gentleman who quoted me (www.pdiauto.com) has an indoor shop and would do it and the tint there. I bumped into him putting gas in my current car yesterday.

I don't know how long it will be before the machine-cut kits are available for the R56. Wrapping the edges might be a good alternative to cutting the film on the car (as long as there are no adhesion problems).
There's a proper way to cut film on the car, but there are plenty of stories here where the installer has cut all the way through the film into the paint.
