My wife's MINI has the checkered sunroof - I can measure that tonight when I get home from work and report back here if you don't get an answer earlier.

I've got one done by Cooperflags that used the dealer version as the model. They are 4" by 4" squares on mine.

I measured my wife's '05 at 6 and 1/4 inch squares - this is the dealer installed sunroof checkerboards. Good luck with your project and be sure to post pics!

The dealer squares for solid roof are 8.5x8.5" - sqares should have spaces (+/- 1/4") between the corners to avoid too much space around the outside edges.

ok so i just finished applying the checkers to the roof. I'm excited about the new look! it was super easy, but very time consuming. it took 4 hours from start to where i am at right now. I'm eating and then I'm going to run out there and trim around the sunroof so that i can open it. anyway when I'm done i will post some pictures. give me about an our.

also do you think i should loose the checkerd mirror covers now? i cant decide it having both is just over kill. thanks.

Yep, looks like you did a very nice job. The squares look... well, squared off, and uniform.

As far as the checkerage, I'm not so sure about the adage of "no such thing as too much". I like the mirrors with the roof but I wouldn't add any more if I were you. Well... maybe the rear view mirror, but nothing as overpowering as the checkered bonnet stripes or side stripes.

Again, looks great !!

Looks freakin great! I love checkers. If I didn't have the UJ, I'd go this route.

Are you in Miami??

thanks

I went to a local sign shop and had them cut me 100 6" white squares...
then i went home and started measuring.... thats the hardest part is making sure everything is straight. then its just a matter of having the patients to put them all on....

then enjoy

thanks for all the comments!

That looks awesome!! My dad and I are going to attempt to checker my roof this weekend. I'm glad I went with a 6 inch square! Any tips?
