anthracite interior parts

after having my new mini for over a month now i have noticed some interior pieces. I did order the car with the anthracite interior option. However the speedo is still silver. But alot of tother pieces seem to be anthracite but not clear coated.

Are these other pieces i deed anthracite just not clear coated and if so can i have the coated to look like the others.

the ring around the speedo should be anthracite, the face is silver. The ring around the tach, the steering wheel and the inserts on the steering wheel are silver.

The only thing that should be a unclear coated aould be the anthractie down tubes

Minor dash retro fit

HHFD633.......Try changing the speedometer trim ring with a OEM silver one...p/n 51-45-7-059-167 ...about $15.....It looks great and makes the large speedometer easier to read in the daylite.........

about the clear coat question
I bought an 03 cooper with all silver interior pieces [only thing availabe at the time] and found that not all are clear coated
even on the door panels around the outside has clear and the handle part does not.
the downtubes and speaker grills also were not

about the tach
unfortunatly the factory didnt change the tack to anthracite even if you got the package
they do make one though
but as ridiculous as this sounds they will only sell you the whole thing
the ring is removable and paintable but they only sell the whole tach for several hundred dollars
I found this out by looking into switching all my trim pieces and priced them out at the dealer

for $90 I got 10 trim pieces painted with high quality paint from a local custom shop including 2 coats of clear
you can literaly see yourself in them
I could have pulled more pieces and gotten them painted but it is almost impossible to remove all the silver from the interior so I left some of it to match

here is a few pics of what I did

imo the tach's silver ring is okay. it's the speedo ring that needs to
stand out more from the vents... thus, i painted mine today and
waiting to dry.

goes well with my other painted rings...

oh yah... and the brake lever **** is getting changed this week with MiniMania's one... to
match my shift ****.

let me know how you install that brake handle
I bought one 3 years ago and even though it looks and feels well made it is missing the factory detail that locks it into place on the brake arm.
I called them on it and they told me to silicone it into place
pretty sad if you ask me. I would call it an inferior part

I'm sure i'm just blind, but Ken, how is that speedo ring you painted different from stock? It looks like the anthracite to me.

Is it just slightly darker? If so, I bet that would look cool.

it's quite a bit darker. the paint i used is metallic black. if you look at the
downtubes that is the factory anthrasite color.

the cooper works carbon fiber dash came stock on the MC40 in fact thats where it made its US debut.

as for "is it worth it?"

that depends on you. was it worth the $1500.00 the dealer wanted for it at first?

probably not.

is it worth the $900 morristown mini is selling them for now?

maybe, if you got that kinda cash on hand

was it worth the $450.00 I paid for mine on EBAY?
without a doubt yes
even my GF who thinks cars are just cars wouldnt stop mentioning my dash everytime she got into the car for the first week after I installed it.

Grab it on each side with your thumb and forefinger. Press in slightly. Turn counter-clockwise (I think) about 30 degrees (1-tick on a clock's face) and then pull towards you (if it doesn't just fall off)
