Seat modifications

I had my Cordoba Beige interior up for sale, had a buyer, she came to pick them up and changed her mind after we loaded them into her SUV. She wanted a leather interior for her MCc, but at the last minute, chickened out. I was tired of putting them on the market and buyers backing out, so I did what any sane person would do...make a new office chair. I wanted to do this over 2 years ago when I pulled them out, but never got around to trying to figure out how to get it done, well, a trip to Lowes Hardware solved that problem. $18 in parts and the base from an old chair was all it took. Now I am cruising on my computer in style. I just need to figure out how to get power to the seat heater, and the air bag incase I fall over

thanks guys. Now I have another reason not to get anything done around the house....I can just sit here in comfort....almost feel like I can take a nap in these chairs.

here is what it looked like in the car before I put in the blue seats

just added a seat belt, one that actually works, so I can keep myself from falling out of the seat, haha.

I plan to do the same thing to an APC (peusdo) Racing Seat after I find an appropriate cover for it.

Careful..... if you put your feet up on the desk for nap time, looks like it'll flip over easily!
Very cool idea!

already tried that, DOES NOT TIP...looks like it would, but it actually stays upright. I think if I tilted the seat back, then it would tip. I can still adjust the seat height by the OEM lever, and the seat tilt and lumbar are operational...

Thats really great. Someone could make some nice $$$ by selling those already set-up. I'm sure they wouldn't be cheap. Perhaps they could be offered as a complete set-up, or everything less the seat and the buyer would just have to get a seat and bolt it on.

nope, just seats, front and rear. I am painting my cordoba interior 2 tone in the back, and covering the front doors with black ostrich leather...but leaving the center of the oval beige. Half of the back sides will be beige, the other half black, with a custom aluminum strip in the groove that already exists, separating the 2 colors. Tan on bottom, black on top, and the arm rest black. If that makes sense

I love the chairs but I have to admit... the MOST amazing and unbelievable thing is how stinkin' clean your computer room/office is. WHERE is the paper? The junk? The piles of computer gear, the cords, the cameras? HOW DO YOU DO THIS?

just stay on top of it young grasshoppa's. I hate clutter, and believe it or not, this is somewhat unorganized, with a little junk on the desks. New house, new everything, want to keep it clean and organized....once you start that way, it is really easy to keep on top of it....and it takes MUCH less time to clean if you don't let the piles grow.

I am not a computer geek so to speak, so I don't have a lot of computer gear, my cameras are packed up in their case, which is in the tower section of the desk. Papers, well, I don't print much stuff, only photos from the pictures i have taken over the years. Mainly, I don't sit in here much, I am usually outside working on landscape projects, or stuff in the house. Like today, scrubbed the bathroom tile, counters, floors, shower, and around the bath tub, then sealed the entire thing. I think I am a bit light headed from the fumes of the sealant...

Anyway, I know I am somewhat high since I am babbling, but basically, keep it clean to begin with, and it is easy from there. Throw away anything you are not gonna look at again within a month. When Betsy and I built this house, we vowed to throw away all the clutter, and keep it simple. So far, so good.

Well now that explains it... not a computer geek. I have three computers in this one room I'm sitting in (2 desktops and 1 laptop and another laptop will show up this evening from work), plus the laser printer, the scanner, the router and wireless, the external drives and extra burners. Various cameras, ipods (2) and cords galore. Amazingly I can find everything but it IS a mess. Add to the room a rolltop desk and two bookcases filled with books, a map or Russia on the wall and a freezer filled with 400 lbs. of good home-grown Colorado organic beef. Yes, this computer room of mine is a bit crowded, but it is home. Once in a while I get itchy feet and clean it up. That lasts as long as the day is long..... not very long at all. It's the dratted newspapers that get to me first... two delivered each day (although they've been tossing the WRONG paper for the past two days... getting the NY Times instead of the Wall Street Journal.... my husband is NOT a happy man).... anyway, the recycling bin fills up pretty fast with paper... oh and the shredder and the pile of papers to shred... that's in a different corner.

But on another topic.... young grasshopper eh? Might make me feel young again after that nasty old thread calling 47 yr. olds blue-haired ladies!

colorado organic beef, eh? I am getting some deer meat next week from a co-worker's husband.

Your office sounds a bit crazy, I am taking it you have been there for quite some time. Betsy and I have only been here since February of this year. When we consolidated, we unloaded a bunch of stuff and found new stuff. Between us, we do have 3 computers, my iMac, her Compaq thingy that crashes all the time , and I have an iBook that is wireless so I can look up stuff while working in the garage on my MINI. Speaking of garages...it is as clean as my office.....and my MINI, which is over 3 years old and in PERFECT shape, my pride and joy.

Had the same idea a few years ago while racing on the computer!

After sampling the Recaro, Sparco, and Momo seats....ended up buying the Corbeau for comfort and fit.

Also......installed arm rests as well. thumbsup:

Now THAT is disgusting... lol My garage is NOT in pristine condition. My MINI is, but not the garage. We've only been here six years but it's more a matter of too many children in transit these days using our house as a stopping place/storage place. You think they grow up and you'll get rid of their stuff..... NOT! You know people like you give the rest of us complexes.
