Over at motoringfile there was an article a few days ago on new JCW accessories for 2007. One of the items was a shifter light that appeared to be mounted just below the tack on the steering column. I prefer that location as it is right in front of your line of vision. The other style was mounted on top of the dash in the center. It may also be easier to install as I suspect that you would not have to take the top of the dash off. Hope that helps Steve

the ecu cuts the gas at predetermined rpm.

Here is a video of it that i took. I have it, but its purly bling for sure. It matches the interior well. I have mine set at 6200 per the 19% pulley.

Don't hate me for this...

It just connect to three pins on the OBD connector harness. I suggest you use solder bucause I hate the provided "Scotch Loks". You are able to adjust the red line to be just about anywhere you want it, but must do so BEFORE mounting as the dip switches are underneath. I set my redline at 6500 rpm as I have an Alta 17% pulley and don't need to tach it all the way to 6750rpm. I also have install instructions from MINI that are NOT provided when you buy the part. The instructions do not tell you how to remove the dash pad. The 2006 dash will be very difficult to totally remove as MINI was trying to eliminate any chance of it rattling. If you do get the dash pad totally removed, I would like to know how you were able to manage it. Best Regards, "COOPEDUP"
pop off the two end caps from the dash pad. Remove the two torx screw on each end. Lift pad forward and up.

I couldn't get it to load do you happen to have any photos or a youtube or google video link?

I'd really like to see photos/video of the install, final product and in use.

The biggest advantage to a shift light are for those folks who do track days. It is very difficult to hear or feel the car when you are wearing a helmet and trying to concentrate on your line. I can't think of a single time I have not seen a shift light in a race car.

Nice job with the install !

That's on our pre-'05s. Apparently the new version is bolted up like Fort Knox.
