Accessing Body Control Module

Hi all,

I'm in the last step of installing the factory driving lights and need to tap the high beam wire that goes to the Body Control Module in the passenger side footwell. This requires pulling the plastic kick panel piece that runs all along the passenger side door sill...

However I don't know where to grab this thing and which direction to pull on it... Can someone offer their two cents please? Thanks,

-e

Pull towards the center of the car, not upwards. Also, remove the seatbelt anchor on the floor behind the seat, since this interferes with removing the panel. The retaining pins are reusable, though some might remain in the body rather than come out with the panel. Peel up the weatherstrip that runs along the sill of the opening as well. No tools are needed other than the torx driver to remove the seatbelt anchor.

Removing the passenger’s side seat will make the job much easier. I’ve done this with and without the seat; without the seat provides more room for leverage and room to give it a good smack when seating the plastic clips. For the clips that can be seen I used a tool to pry the rivet away from the body, for the others, I did break a couple when the panel was yanked. While the kick panel is off tape down the cap on the body control unit so it won’t rattle later in life.

A picture to give you an idea of where the plastic clips are located.
