Interior/Exterior GP-Style rear seat delete?
GP-Style rear seat delete?
I have an 06 Cooper S hardtop and really like the way the GP looks without a rear seat. Is there a way to remove my rear seats without having that ugly metal mount sticking out? Has anyone here ever seen a rear seat delete kit with the GP rear strut brace? Any other ideas? Thanks

agreed
Well worth the $100 for the easy of install (vs. a DIY). It does leave a slight raise (~1.5") where the seats were, but it's hardly an issue.
I covered the whole cargo area with a $26 rubber cut-to-size floor mat to protect the cargo area with great results.
i started a thread to where we could group buy

It would be cool if it had another panel that mimicked the position of the rear seat back and latched in where the rear seats do now. That way you could keep whatever is in your boot out of sight, & then swing it down to rest flat on the floor when you need the extra storage space. I like the idea, but I tend to keep my camera bag, towels & cleaning supplies, Coat, small tool kit, blanket back there & I would like to keep that stuff out of sight.
Or you could do it yourself

I fab'd up some bracket that get pinched between the body and the rear seat outer bracket. The front portion is held down by hinge pins passing through a piece of Oak - then the stock forward lower seat mount - then through another piece of Oak. About $24 and a few hours of work
BTW, the color diff is not as much as it's shows with the flash

OK, cool...I couldn't get them by phone and no response to my email.
don't get too concerned about them not answering the phone or e-mailing back right away. i had the same concern, but steve did evenutally respond and he will take care of you. if you just order on the website, you'll get a confirmation.
The Shrader Performance kit isn't carpeted. It's a plastic cover, and includes plugs to cover the holes in the side panels. I ordered it Monday and received and installed it yesterday.
It looks nice, but I think it could use a bit of structural reinforcement. It seems a bit too flexible. I'm going to beef it up a little today, and maybe even slap some dynamat on the underside if road noise is coming up through it.

Dynamat made a big difference - got rid of the road noise and made the panel seem much more substantial - if I knock on it, it feels like it's about an inch thick. Of course, it only feels more substantial this way - the thing will only hold just so much weight to begin with, and since I did zero structural reinforcement it will still only support the same weight.....minus the weight of the Dynamat.
I do want to apologize for the phone number issue with Shrader Performance. We had our outdated phone number on the website and did not notice it until recently. The number has been updated online. 704-674-6979.

Has a fire extinguisher now, took 10 hours to do. notice lack of rear seatbelts. Color matches better, its been cleaned, I'll see if I ca get some better photos up tomorrow (maybe later tonight we'll see)
my kit arrived this morning, and i had it installed jua little after lunch. i added soundproofing under the panel, then a new rubber (universal) trunk mat from wallmart. it's not any louder at all, but i've always had the rear seats down anyway. now my dog has an extra six inches of headroom.
