Driving Lights Switch Options

I just got done prewiring my 05MCSC for driving lights, Intercooler Diverter sprayer and Boost Gauge, before I install the Euro Parcel Tray. Can anyone share pictures of the switch you installed for the Driving Lights on the blank that is part of the Euro Parcel Switch? Also could you tell me where you got the switch from? I've attached a pix from the sticky. What other options do I have? TIA Michael

I like Oznium's LED round rocker switches, because they're illuminated (if you want them to be - he sells a non-LED version as well) in different colors in a NON TACKY way, and they mount in a round hole as opposed to a rectangular shape that you need to cut out. Just drill a 1/2" hole and snap the switch in... They're even pre-wired so you don't have to buy female wire clips and do any crimping - it's a small extra touch but a nice one...

If you've got xenons, a perfect place for the switch is the plate where the headlight adjustment roller normally is - on saying that, lets face it how many times do you use it, you could use that area anyway .

I'm guessing that's an Oz-only thing; we don't have manual headlight adjustment gadgetry in the US.

I ran mine to those oval covers by the e-brake. I just had to tuck it behind the plastic trim by the door and run it under the seat. I am dissapointed that I don't get to use it as often as I do. It was fun though driving through rural IN with the driving lights, brights, and regular headlamps on. It was as if I was driving around in the middle of the day!

Yep, we don't have that. Our Xenons are auto-levelling, however.

Yeah thats what I meant - Xenons don't have that roller here as they are auto levelling, but the halogens do.

You could still use the cutout for a nice OEM looking switch setup though

The Euro tray has a knockout intended for this purpose as well - you know that, right? All you need to do is pop it out, make your cuts, install the switch and pop the knockout back in. I've seen pics from other people that have installed their switch in this place and they seem to like it there.

There are also (depending on your installed options) knockouts on the center console beside the e-brake (the run-flat reset button is in the passenger-side blank on my '06 MCS cabrio) that you can use for this as well. It's pretty easy to push the wires under the center console plastic peices of you decide to use this location.

Shawn, very cool switches. It looks like you're going to launch a couple of missles or something!

I prefer the stealth look for my switch, and mounted it under the toggle panel (below the fog light switch). It is always on so the light come on with the high beams, but I can turn them off easily if need be.

You can get these at Radio Shack for about $5 each. They're REALLY bright and colorful, though, so be warned.

Yep, I drilled it out and used the parts from the TomTom bracket and it worked like a champ. I borrowed the idea from Ian Cull

That looks amazingly good. Totally tied together, nothing outragous but a complete package. I've seen a lot of modded MINIs and that is as well executed an interior as I've seen. Big .
