Interior/Exterior Colored grill for a non MCS
Colored grill for a non MCS
Does anyone know if it's possible to get and install a colored grill on an MC like the kind that are on the MCS? Seems like it should be, but not sure where to start... dealer part? I know a lot of MCS owners get the chrome grills, so it seems like there should be a lot of extra grills sitting around too!
thanks!
thanks!
CrustyJoe,
I know there are a couple of threads on this forum about this. You're right, people are always changing grilles, so getting a used "S" grille might be your best bet.
The other option you'll read about if you do a search (just make sure you include the "e" in Grille) is the use of vinyl tape. I've seen lots of great results with this approach. Of course, you'd have to find vinyl in the desired color. From what I've read, this method works much better than paint.
Good luck in your search!

It's a direct fit, up to a point.
I'm not sure of the exact timing, but I think it was around the beginning of the '04 build that the MC grille switched from 4 upper slats to 3, like the MCS has had all along. If you have a grille with 3 upper slats, all you need is the grille itself. If you have an earlier MC with the 4 upper slats, you can still do it but you have to swap the matching black plastic support that goes behind the grille at the same time.
The other choice if you have a 4-slat upper grille is just paint what you have or vinyl it as mentioned above.

I have an indi blue one that I am not using. I replaced my 03 chrome with an 06 chrome for a cleaner look...but got the indi blue from a friend who went with th black aero one. They all fit, and are interchangable without problems.
