My Leather Interior Upgrades

Just wanted to share some pics of my leather upgrades.

Here is a pic of my hand brake cover that I made and matching boot with contrast stitching. I did all the stitching by hand.

Here is a picture of my matching shifter boot with the same stitching. I originally had different contrast stitching but didn't like it (used the wrong type of thread) so I tore it out and redid it. Came out much crisper this time.

Here are my door handle covers. I didn't do contrast stitching on them. They were the first thing I attempted and didn't think of doing it on them. I may tear them out and add it. Easy change to make.

Looks great, nice job! Stitching looks fantastic too, well done.

Any plans to do any more of the interior?

It's hard to beat leather for a touch of class.

Thanks, everyone!

Xray, yes, I want to do the down tubes with the same contrast stitching, and perhaps recover the arm rests in the doors to match, too. They are already leather, which surprised me. They feel like Vinyl (ick).

How are your sewing projects coming along? Did my tips help you out at all?

Looks good.

Do the door handle covers cover both silver bars? I would love to get rid of that silver in my car.

Good luck with the downtubes! This may or may not be helpful, but they took a few tries for me to get right, so it may be worth repeating; I originally cut two pieces of leather shaped to fit the curvature of the tubes. Sewing them together was a bit of a nightmare and I could never get a straight line. I finally tried just using one larger rectangular piece and sewing two decorative stitches along the middle. Once you wrap and glue the leather snugly in place, the curvature isn't a problem, the leather conforms to the shape nicely (with just a little wrinkling on the inner side of the curve).

As for my projects, well our new baby is keeping us busy most of the day and night, so it'll have to wait for a while. I've been sketching out some ideas though. I'm just not sure how extreme to go with it all. The photos you took and the tips were really helpful though, I'm definately exciting about giving it another try.

No, just the part you use as a handle to close the door. There is a picture in my gallery.
