Replacing Mirror Covers

I recently purchased a pair of chrome mirror covers for my Black Cooper S and now realize I don't know how to remove the original covers. I was told I'd basically have to break their mounting tabs when prying them off - but I don't quite have the nerve to pry as hard as seems necessary. Any tips or info on this?

The dealer told me that they cover the end of a small screwdriver with cloth, and use that to carefully pry off the cover from the underside.

(That's all well and good, but I'm still letting them install my carbon fiber covers, so if anything slips/scratches/breaks, it's on them.)

Mirrors Caps Installed

Thanks for input. Particularly the thread you included, Dave. Once I learned I could pop off the mirror itself, access to the tabs was easy. Also, you can avoid breaking the tabs (which is what the dealer recommended) so you can reinstall the original caps if you're in the mood for those again.

I think I'll try the checkered caps next.
