Does anyone know of a cover or tray that can be used to protect the boot and folded down rear seats from dirt ? Thanks, Brian

First, Welcome to MCO, B&K!!

There is a rubber boot mat in the MINI accessories catalog which matches the rubber floor mats. It has a small lip around the sides (about 1-2" high) which isn't intrusive, but is helpful to contain any escaped fluids.

As for the seatbacks, that's a good question. I have not seen anything to date. Maybe someone will have a good DIY idea.

Welcome to MCO, B&K!!!!

In the 2003 MINI Motoring Accessories catalog, there is a Rubber Boot Mat Extension for $75. Same pattern as the other rubber OEM mats. It appears to fit behind the rear seats and become a sort of floorboard when the seats are folded down.

Does anyone have this yet?

I inspected the part and decided not to buy it. It velcros to the back of the rear seats, and is nicely made. However, with the piece in place, you lose the option of dropping only 1/2 of the rear seat. I opted for an old beach towel instead.

I had planned on getting the rubber mats when my MINI arrives, but looking in the 2003 Accessories Book (page 25) I saw that they have changed the design on the mats from that cool notched ring effect to just plain dots. And on the front mats, the dots are only on the rear half.

So ebay to the rescue! I found the older style here, and ordered the matching boot mat from the seller as well.

He has 3 sets left as of now, with 22 hours left in the auction. You could probably email him after the auction and order some if you're too late to bid.

Hey I just got myself a set of these too on Ebay I loved the design of the mats and were saddened when they were not sold in the US and discontinued in the UK fro safty reasons  I already have a set of carpet, but I love the look of the rubber ones

digi: if you come to the SCMM run on the 20th, I'll be there with my MINI. I have the boot mat, so you can take a look at the fit then if you're still debating it.

There is a nice outline on the bottom of the mat for where to cut if you have the MINI CD changer too. Very well thought out piece.

I emailed the ebay seller and asked if the boot mat was the same ring pattern - he said it was. If that isn't the case when I get them, I'll report back here.

Hey man,

I got a boot tray from Organized Living for 6 bucks that fits perfectly. It fits the boot with the seats up. Good luck!

Use a blue plastic tarp when the rear seats are folded. How much are they....3-4 bucks.

I have the "new" boot mat with the "dots". It's very nice but it's not rubber at all -- rather it's a hard slippery plastic. Seems very durable but does not afford much traction. Are the old "cupholder" mats as soft and supple as they appear or are they plastic as well?
