Need help deciding (part II).

Hey peoples, some may remember my other post asking for opinions on 2 different splitters, the Garbino and NKB Power.

This is the final decision time now: I had the NKB 100% set in mind, but then I found this another style, quite similar. So I need some more help (again)...

NKB Power:

Bavarian Autosports:

My first choice for a splitter was the one from Maxi-Tuner/Bond-MINI, but almost impossible to get it... So I changed my direction to the NKB, which I found a way to get it into the US.
After a while of searching, I came across the Bavarian Autosport splitter, which (in my opinion) resembles my original choice quite a lot... So I guess that's why I need the extra help... I came to love the NKB, but not $600+ love it...

And that is the only reasong why I'm not 100% set on the NKB anymore - price.

NKB: $490 + shipping + paint
Bavarian: $200 + shipping + paint

So my question is: should I stick with the NKB and work my butt off to pay the price or go for something more "subtle" (Bavarian) and pay half-off, basically?

Thanks for the input,
Leo.

PS: The shipping is unbelieveable... For the NKB (imported from Japan) it would be $120. For the Bavarian, $30.

Ever thought about the M7 splitter?

http://www.mini2.com/forum/exterior/...light=splitter
http://www.mini2.com/forum/exterior/...light=splitter

It's $300 (CF) from www.m7tuning.com

And if that is not want you want, I would go for the NKB. It looks better imo, but like you have stated...costs quite a lot. $300 for a CF splitter from M7 though!

Yea, keep in mind if you have the Aero kit the splitter is different and $324.

Hey guys, thanks for posting your comments.

To be honest, I had already looked into the M7 splitters... I decided against it because of 2 main things: I wanted it in car-color, and would have to paint the carbon-fiber (not as clean a finish as fiberglass, though) and 2 - I want a splitter with some sort of "shape", the M7 (in my opinion) is really just a very simplistic piece of carbon-fiber with no major curves, again this is in comparison to the other options.

I originally wanted the Bond/Maxi-Tuner splitter:

And if you look at that one and the one from Bavarian Autosport, they are quite similar (Bavarian being a little simpler); but that is the main reason why I started to even look into it.

The Bond/Maxi-Tuner proved to be almost impossible to track down, even with a friend in Germany blocks away from the Maxi-Tuner's warehouse... So I decided to look for something else, and the NKB came to mind. I love the design, but not quite what I want and very, very expensive. So the Bavarian seems to be right now the best choice for my wallet, but I just wanted to some "professional" help on the decision since a lot of people here have excellent taste...

Thanks for the input, guys.
Leo.

Get the NKB. It may cost more, but (a) you're unlikely to ever see someone else with one, and (b) it looks a lot better; a much more thoughtful design. It's only money!

I agree...NKB. It's understated and I personally like that on a Cooper. If you were going to add other more aggressive-looking parts that'd be a different case.

Yeah, I've seen the Hamann, but I didn't really like it...

The whole thing that threw me off is when it attaches to the car (on the sides, near the wheels)... I think that for the Hamann (name + brand = $$), the design is kinda "left unfinished", almost... I feel that the curves should be more subtle, and follow the MINI's reflector-arches better. You can clearly see that it's a stuck-on piece that goes on top of it. The Cooper S Hamann splitter, however - that one I like a lot, and it resembles the NKB quite a bit.

Thanks though,
Leo.

PS: That's a nice looking MINI there, whose is it and where did you find it?

Edmyeung over on MINI2

I do think that if you dont like the stuck on look...you should probably go with the NKB. I have seen other pics of the bavarian one, and it kinda looks like a bolted on lip kit.
The bavarian one kinda looks like its just a molded plastic. Have you seen the one on the red with the black arches from a low angle? If not, PM your email and i will email you the pic that i have saved on my computer

Here is my personal favorite kit for the MC...and in red yet again If you think BOND is hard to come by....try finding this kit. It's made by Berg in japan. Mostly a porsche company. Can't find a website or any mention of it, but according to japanese car blogs, they still are producing the kit I love this kit

Pic might take a long time to load...but its worth it

Hey man.

Nice finds. That last kit is nice indeed, but again with the "stuck-on" look. Not my taste, but that is nice.

It kinda resembles the Garbino a little bit (at least the Cooper S does)...

I'm PMing you my e-mail for that pic of the Bavarian. But I'm almost set on the NKB (again). lol.

Thanks for all the help,
Leo.

I've made my decision!

Thank you all for the help. I really appreciate the honesty and input from everybody with different tastes.

What really settled it for me was the pic RallyMINI sent me. The Bavarian lip seemed completely off! At least from the lower angle, and without being car-color.

Anyways, NKB it is! Every time I see a picture of it, I like it more... So I guess it was just a matter of [more] time. I would get it eventually. Now I need a little $$. Any donations? lol..

Thanks again, guys.
Leo.

PS: Another pic of it, just for show:

Again, thank you all, especially RallyMINI for the above pic (found in another thread) and the Bavarian pic e-mailed, which has saved me some grief in the [not so near] future... hehe.

and a little extra help...if you want struts for your splitter (like on the blue car)

get these from ECS tuning. They are the best in my opinion:

Do you have anymore pics of that blue MC? I love the checkered design and actually might like to do the same. Think it looks to "ricey?"

lol. How about we start a new thread JUST for that MINI? lol.

Call it "That Blue One From Japan".

That last pic is nice as well, but the guy in front (I'm assuming the owner) needs to step to the left a little more...

Soon I'll have 13 to compare to "The Blue One". Seriouslly though, post a bunch of pics here, if you want! I love that car.

Take care, and thanks again.
Leo.
