Interior/Exterior You know that white plastic they put on cars for transport..?
You know that white plastic they put on cars for transport..?
... what is that material and is it possible to buy that somewhere?
Apparently it's pulled off at the VDC, so my dealer won't have it. I'd like to put something like that back on my car for the drive cross-country back home (yes, I know about the clearbra, but i'm not convinced it's worth the money)
Thanks!

NOt sure who or where, but could try other car dealers (like toyota, or one of the big three) as other brands transport to dealer on non-enclosed trailers.
Also what about Kenchan's painters tape plan? $4 at any hardware store.

So, O-Ron, we're both addicted to NAM. :>
At any rate, at lunch I picked up some 3" wide blue 3M painter's tape to put on my bonnet and bumper for the drive home from the dealer. You want the blue stuff since it won't leave a residue or hurt the paint, and it sticks plenty well.
I put some on my side mirror of my old car on the drive back and it doesn't move at all. I think it would do very well in rock chip prevention -- its no invisishield by any means, but it will prevent most, imo. If you're the belt & suspenders type you can put two layers on.
I was wondering if we can get those white sheets they use myself, but I think they remove them at the VDC? There's a VW dealership up the way, I wonder if they would have any to spare. The blue tape is actually easier to work with I bet.

I used clear contact paper, the kind you use for cupboard shelves, and it worked great. Low tack and you can get a big roll at Wal-Mart for cheap! It comes off easy with little to no residue.
