Anthracite interior

Being the dunce that I am, I didn't realize last year that I could order the interior trim in anthracite instead of the "light grey" (read pretty light nearly white) interior. My DS/B de-chromed car looks cool, but those light interior highlights just ruin the image, even with window tint. So today, thanks to a "faulty" RH side A-pillar cover, I got anthracite A-pillars and all looks much better! The A-pillar covers are *one-use* according to the dealer, as they must cut the air-bag straps to remove the covers. Mine was squeeking with chassis movement, so they replaced the right one under warranty and charged my a modest fee to do the LH one as well, to match in anthracite. I love my MINI, and my MINI dealer! woohoo.

Would a DS/B Mini with anthracite headliner, black leather/leathette, and PATINA dash look bad?

Heck no--it would look great! My dash is the standard patina, with few frills and no interior bling. The reason I wanted anthracite A pillars was that they are really visible from the front of the car, or any exterior view except behind. Of course, I think an entire anthracite interior would look the best, but it's an expensive after thought compared to ordering it with the new vehicle. The front pillars are $30 each and who knows how much the headliner would cost from the parts department? So my solution looks a bit odd from the inside, but I'd bet there's not even a member of the MINI club who would sit in the car and go: "gee, Phil, you only have dark grey front pillars and the rest are white!"
btw, the service manager said they replace a lot of pillar covers--maybe there's a common problem with the mounts causing rattles. Bummer as they have to *cut* them out and throw them away! Time for a new design, BMW?

cheers, phil

This is the same combination I ordered. I think it looked sharp on the car on the lot at my dealer.

I think about it, and I feel that the different dash would give the interior a nice focal point...as well as the door panels. It's nice to have the seats and headliner and floorboard flow well, but I think with the patina dash it would look real sharp.

By the way, I can't remember...is the antrhacite DASH an option that you have to pay for or was that something you can choose free from the cohices? I'm drawing a blank.

Love Anthracite, Just want more...

I absolutely LOVE the Anthracite interior, but I hate the lack of completion for the interior. They go all out for the Chromed insides, but fell short on Anthracite. I think I'll head down to my local MINI dealer and ask about new trim, maybe A pillars, too.
