Driving Lights

(Sorry for the tacky name on the pic) I just bought these and thought that they were a steal! Are there any pros out there that see a con to them? I was a little skeptical, so some positive feedback would be nice! Thanks!

Quality S.A.E. approved round ~6" halogen lamps creates a precision fog beam pattern with a total of 110W total! Contemporary styling gives it the popular aerodynamic look. Engineered crystal-glass lenses & multi-surface reflector produces maximum candle power output.

Does kit include everything I need? Yes kit includes 2 lamp enclosures, powerful H3-55 watt bulbs, fully adjustable mounts for bumper or bar, harnesses, pre-assembled wiring harness with relay and fuse, micro electronic switch, mouting hardware kit, installation instructions, and more.
I'm not good with electronics, can I still install your kit myself? More involved installation may require drilling or cutting to position the lamp where you want it. The end result will have a clean look if done with care. We recommend professional installation at your local stereo shop for those uncomfortable installing on their own.
Can I hook the lights up to my factory light switch instead of the included switch? Of course, just run the wire to the factory switch instead of the included switch.
What type of bulbs come with your kit? Two powerful H3 bulbs with an output of 55 watts a piece, 110 watts total! These bulbs are designed for maximum output and durability. The bulbs generally last many years without the need for replacement. There is a good chance the bulbs will outlast the life of the vehicle. H3 is a common size bulbs and can be attained anywhere automotive bulbs are sold.

Looks like you might need the brackets to mount them properly. Otherwise look pretty nice.

It says:

Does kit include everything I need? Yes kit includes 2 lamp enclosures, powerful H3-55 watt bulbs, fully adjustable mounts for bumper or bar, harnesses, pre-assembled wiring harness with relay and fuse, micro electronic switch, mouting hardware kit, installation instructions, and more.

Will that work?

I would consider light mounting brackets from Mini Madness. As the kit stands now, all the parts are there to mount to a horizontal surface. YOU have to provide that surface . . .

There's no such thing as "crystal-glass". Who knows what else they're lying about. Just kidding, they look pretty cool.

be careful with the quality of the electrical components - switches, relays, etc.

I have had three PIAA relay's melt in three different situations (twice in my car, then once in a buddys) And PIAA is a "brand" name....

Don't know how much you paid, but you should be able to do a full set of Hella 500's for around $100.

Not a bad price. If the ones in the picture are like the ones that you have they are driving lamps not fogs. If they were fogs they'd have a lot of fluting in the lens to spread the beam out.

Yeah, its confusing as to the type of light since it states that its a fog light but looks otherwise... Be sure it is what you want. I hope it works out for you, I personally would be leary of electrical stuff unless it has a warranty/good vendor standing behind it.

The Driving Lights that Mini Dealers sell and install. Who makes them?

I would be wary of a couple of things. Remember, you usually get what you pay for. As others have mentioned, you dont know the quality of the relay ... what is the mounting mechanism? How are you going to bolt these on?

What "factory switch" The factory switch for driving lights are a separate plastic switch just like the one they are probably sending you ... not in the bank of silver switches (which I dont think are real switches anyway). I know it says fogs but they look like driving lights ...

You could wire them in to come on with the high beam. Make sure & use a relay, also be sure to use a fuse in the circuit.
