Grille questions

My 06 MC has the chrome line exterior package. I find myself not really liking all of that chrome, so I'm looking at grille options. My MC is Astro Black. It is my understanding that the aero kit grilles are only available in black, and that won't be enough of a contrast. I see the M7 grilles are available in silver, but no lower grille for the MC, just MCS.
Thoughts? Insults? Recipes?

Thoughts: If all else fails you could paint the aero or go custom and put whatever kind of grill you want in there. Just trim it and shape it with a few minor mods. I have been tempted. I sware I may have seen some options on mossmini.com or minimania.com though.

I also did not like all the chrome. While I'd love to go with an aero kit, I don't have the funds for it right now. So I bought a "grille cover" from an ebay seller. It sticks on with double sided tape and actually doesn't look half bad (see picture in my signature below). There are silver and carbon fiber options as well as black. I took the extra step of removing the chrome slats from both the upper and lower grille for a cleaner look.

Anyone ever remove the chrome bumper inserts? I've seen posts about adding them, but none about how to remove them, and what it looks like under there. I'm considering this, since with the aftermarket driving lights, bonnet strips, black grille there is an awful lot going on in the front of my MINI.

Any thoughts on this?

Dave

Well I like the chrome and want it. I bought a top half chrome OEM grill very cheap on ebay, but where can I get the bottom part (last two stripes). I'm a buyer of all exterior chrome pieces anyone wants to sell, Michael

I also like the chrome and had the M7 front grilles, but then I got the Aero kit and the M7 grilles did not fit. In the end, I ended up just putting the stock black aero grilles on and kinda like it. Here is a pic of my 06 MCS with the M7 chrome grilles:

I still have the M7 grilles and if anyone is interested in it, please let me know. I purchased the whole set for $400 and willing to let it go for only $280. I also have a brand new rear aero bumper that is for a MC and my mini is a MCS and won't fit, and will sell it for only $150. Please email me at surfsup98@yahoo.com.
