Interior/Exterior Window Tint Percentages
I have a Dark Dilver MCS, and wanna get the windows tinted. My last car was black, and I went with 35% tint all around, and 70% on the front windshield.
I'm worried that would be too dark for the MINI?! If you're gotten yours tinted, can you chime in with the tint percentage you got please? did you get the rear trunk window (is that what you call it?) tinted?
thanks!

I've seen 35% all around and it didn't look good. Here is Oregon we can only go 35% on the front windows. But if you put darker tint on the rear quarter panel glass then the overall result looks much darker.
A good, not *too* damn dark setup might be:
Front=35%
Rear=15%
Back=20%

>>I need clarification: Is the rear sides and back glass "tinted" from the factory?
I think the back windows are a little darker, I'll look at them today coz the tint percentage would be written on them.

>>Sure... will do that tomorrow! Be warned... So Cal Weather = Dirty MINI!
Hey... I dunno If I'm going to be able to get that photo today...... will take it this weekend, maybe we'll be clean enough then

yeah, i think i'm gonna go 35% all around, I like having it constant, and not darker in the back (i'll never be sitting in the back)
looking forward to being able to pick my nose in traffic again!!
mightyMiniz take your time with the pics, no more rain for now, thank god, will give my MCS its first wash tomorrow!

We need advise. We have ordered the window tinting at 35% all around exceot the windhsheild. I am afraid that this is going to be too dark and am considering changing it to 50%. Is 35% going to look strange on a silk green. It looks really good on the darker colours but I am afraid that people aren't going to see the car but a big dark ring like the ones in the tub!
I actually think 35% on the silk green would look great; it's a pretty dark green. When you go to the tint shop, you should hold up samples of your tint against the window to see what it would look like. IMO, the 50% is too light, you can't even pick your nose in the car with 50%

35% is not dark at all....
if i could find a 30% that would be optimal.
putting 35% in the back is a waste of money IMHO....
35% in the front and 15% in the back..... is a very nice look at and visually practical.
Peace,

Seems that some shops/manufacturers/people measure tint percentages differently. For example your saying 15% in the back, I take that to mean that 15% is darker. I think some people think that the lower the %, the lighter the tint is.
So I guess 15% transparency tint, can be considered the same as 85% opacity tint.

DIRTY car... but you can sort of see the tint... it's much more striking in "the flesh" with the sunlight on it elevating the contrast between the white roof and the black windows... and the chrome trim seperating the windows from the Blue paint.
5% back 3
25% front 2
Hope this helps someone somewhere somehow sometime!

mightyminiz,
looks very sharp! damn rain isn't gonna stop either, supposed to rain on Wednesday now ... at least my mini hasn't gotten pigeon pooped on.
anyhow, once again, the tint looks awesome with that blue. Makes me feel good about going pretty dark on my dark silver MCS. I'm gonna go 70% (very light) on the front windshield, had that on my last car and it made a huge difference.
Will post pics when I do it..
